"These numbers, until they're backed up by any kind of clear, transparent methodology, should be considered made up. There's nothing the states can do with the information in the letter, and [the WH] just plans to use this to amplify further disinformation about the election process," Becker said.

Trump's claims of 250,000 non-U.S. citizens on voter rolls leave some states baffled

Trump officials say they found 250,000 noncitizens on voter rolls in just four states. Those states don't know where the numbers came from, and some worry what the claims may portend for the midterms.

🧵 Yesterday, the President fired the remaining 3 (of 4) commissioners on the independent, bipartisan Election Assistance Commission. While this is another troubling attempt to expand powers beyond that the constitution may grant, it actually will have very little, if any, impact on the election. /1

Judge Ray, a Trump appointee: "These records would not lead to info that could be used to charge anyone with anything, at least not any viable charge. That is because the statute of limitations for any possible crime arising from the 2020 Election has long expired." www.cnn.com/2026/07/07/p...

I'd add that every one of these actions has failed. The DOJ has lost every lawsuit. Despite attacks, primaries are proceeding with minimal problems and high turnout. After 18 months in total power, they've got... nothing. Because it's impossible to find evidence of a crime that never occurred. /1

As the only U.S. president to seek to overturn an election result, Trump has spent years undermining confidence in American elections. Now, he is using the powers of the presidency to advance an agenda rooted in the same debunked election conspiracy theories. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

DOJ now 0-9 in cases seeking to seize sensitive voter data from the states. This time, another Trump-appointed judge (this makes 5 out of the 9 appointed by the current president) ruled that DOJ has no authority under federal law to demand this data. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

California election officials are working diligently to count every valid ballot cast in Tuesday's primary, but as @beckerdavidj.bsky.social told KQED, election conspiracy theorists will “try to latch onto anything to delegitimize results that aren’t in their favor.” www.kqed.org/news/1208605...

Ballots Are All In, but California Election Results Could Take Weeks to Settle. Why? | KQED

Election experts say California’s reliance on voting by mail, along with a lack of resources at county election offices and rigorous verification checks, slows the count.

Tina Peters stole an innocent person's identity, turned off the cameras, and stole election technology. She was found guilty by a jury of her peers, prosecuted by a GOP DA. Her conviction was upheld by the courts. She has ZERO remorse, and Gov. Polis knew that when he commuted her sentence.

NEW: Tina Peters, newly freed by Colorado Gov Jared Polis (D), begins her MAGA media tour by telling Steve Bannon that Democrats are cheating on elections and she was imprisoned as retribution for exposing voting machines that flip votes.

The court found these plaintiffs lacked standing, and the claims weren't quite ripe yet. 19 states will have their case challenging the EO heard in Boston next week, with much stronger standing claims, and after agencies have acted on the EO this week, which will be the case to watch.

My latest @npr.org story: A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has declined to temporarily block President Trump’s executive order that calls for restricting mail-in voting. Another judge may rule on the order soon www.npr.org/2026/05/28/n...

It’s unfortunate to see the Gov of CO succumbing to the bullying tactics of election conspiracy theorists. He has thrown state and county election officials under the bus after they resisted the corruption Ms. Peters engaged in and withstood attacks for many years as a result. /1

Gov. Jared Polis' controversial commutation follows a pressure campaign by the Trump administration to free Tina Peters, an ex-county official who was convicted of tampering with election equipment. n.pr/4uMbo4k

The DOJ is now 0-6 in its efforts to seize sensitive and protected voter data from the states. As I noted a year ago, every court has found that federal law does not give the DOJ the authority to bypass state authority to manage and protect their voter lists.

NEW: U.S. District Judge Susan Brnovich has dismissed a DOJ lawsuit over Arizona’s voter rolls. Her ruling deals another blow to the Trump administration’s nationwide efforts to compel states to turn over full, unredacted lists of registered voters. Read: www.votebeat.org/arizona/2026...

"If implemented, the EO would inject chaos into our elections, block eligible American citizens from voting, undermine voter privacy, and expose election officials and others to criminal prosecution simply for doing their jobs." From @brennancenter.org: www.brennancenter.org/our-work/res...
