When I report that I am doing a randomized trial, this is in distinction to a study with non-randomized or historical controls. But when a researcher claims to be analyzing "real world data", this is in distinction to what exactly?

The boxed warning regarding treatment emerging suicide with antidepressants keeps on causing controversies. Here is a very recent exchange bw leading psychiatrists and (former) FDA officials. IMO, the latter have more convincing arguments.

This is indeed egregious. However, lest we forget: unlike pharmaceuticals, psychotherapy is not subject to regulatory approval standards and can be implemented without a single adequate, well-controlled trial.
