Max Miller on why he's staying in the race: "When we go back to 2015 and 2016, & people in the media looked at President Trump, & everyone came out with allegations. Dozens of women, dozens of crazy allegations, dozens of nasty criminal misconduct. And you know what he did? He stayed in the fight."

FLAG: Trump gets to keep tax immunity for himself, his sons, and the Trump Organization under the new 'deal' struck by Todd Blanche. The new order also reaffirms that Trump won't have to pay any taxes he might have owed the IRS.

My take on COVID "lockdowns" (really, state and local decisions in the face of a killer plague) is that yes they were bad for children and this is an additional reason why it was morally repugnant when huge segments of the population refused to help with social distancing. Shame on you all.

Sen. John Kennedy on Trump's blatant reflecting pool lies: "The president says it was caused by vandals. I don't know if he really believes that or it's part of his political messaging or he's just thinking out loud ... he grows anxious when he has an unexpressed thought."

Someone should write a science fiction novel wherein all AI models spend all of their time either hacking into other models or defending against other models hacking into them. But, you might want to hurry so it can still be called fiction by the time it's published.

OpenAI and Anthropic say their models broke into other companies' systems during testing, raising security concerns amid a heated debate over how to regulate AI.

One reason Social Security is running short of money in 2032 is because a small number of voters, faced w/a choice of voting for the guy who promised to use Clinton’s surplus for tax cuts & guy who promised a Social Security lock box, couldn’t figure out the Butterfly Ballot in Palm Beach County.

GRUBER: I made a prediction that before you left office, Greenland would be under our operational control. TRUMP: You'll be right. They want to do something. Greenland is important from our standpoint, not theirs. You should make that bet.

Dear fellow Canadians, there are lots of reasons not to reward the United States with your travel dollars these days. Tr*mp wanting to strip us of our sovereignty and hitting us with tariffs are two great ones. Reducing your risk of contracting explosive diarrhea is yet another good one.

North Vietnam in 1965 did not have anything close to the current military capabilities of Iran. But they continued to fight for another decade until we finally had enough. They were fighting for their country, we were not. Just as we are not now.

The evidence supports the alt theory of a spillover from animals sold at the market. Spillovers also happen to account for all other novel infectious disease epidemics. I'm tired of writing about this since I'm tired of the harassment. Pretty much every science writer I know feels the same.

Re the attack on Dr. Fauci: Republicans are dragging the US into a new Dark Age, celebrating ignorance, while vilifying science & knowledge. If Americans let it happen, they’ll deserve the resulting hell. Unfortunately, the US being the US, the rest of us will suffer to some extent too. (I’m 🇨🇦)
