Thank you for so many strong essays, poems, ideas, stands, principles, examples, Wendell Berry. Thank you for loving the land, the country, the language. Thank you for living your principles. Quoted you in my talk yesterday, pulled these from my quotes collections.
Wendell Berry, Writer Who Extolled America’s Agrarian Past, Dies at 92
A Kentucky farmer, he railed against agribusiness and championed small family farms and the environment, winning widespread acclaim.

Nothing says welcome back to a new semester at the modern university like a reminder that Coca-Cola has exclusive pouring rights and that under no circumstances can anyone get reimbursed for buying a non-Coke beverage for any university business

#a2council when you fight like the Lorax against infill density and things that make it livable like pedestrian, transit & bicycling infrastructure to save an aging Norway maple and a buckthorn patch, you are fighting _for_ this.
I would love for the energy spent saving one tree in Seattle to instead be directed towards saving the thousands of trees that are cut each year for our sprawling suburbs and rural estates.
#a2Council endorsements: There is still time to vote. If you want a more sustainable and more affordable Ann Arbor, vote for Taylor. www.damnarbor.com/2026/08/elec...

Proud to support Abdul. Everyone loves him. Rahbi in Ann Arbor built a coalition of NIMBYs + "independents" (GOPs of various flavors), as well as people inspired by Bernie nationally (whom I'm not talking about) I call it the Brexit movement in Ann Arbor. Their goal is just to stop progress here.
I'll make the mistake of sharing this even though I hate the title. Didn't fully actualize or exploit our trifecta? Maybe. Squander is BS. We won huge things we've been working on for a decade. Could we have done more? Yes, Minnesota did, but they had a better governor. But there were massive wins.
Vote tomorrow Humans of Michigan! Clean water is life. Vote for it. 🌊🌊
Opinion | To shake up the local Democratic establishment, we must elect the candidate who has held elected office continuously since he was 22 years old. #a2council
Putting out a plea to my unpersuadable DSA friends that if Rabhi wins #a2council they’ll hold him to DSA values (gonna be tough bc he’s supported by some $million homeowners).
H/t @mkahn.bsky.social for sharing the WEMU interviews— unlike debates, candidates could actually get in depth with answers, which favors the thoughtful. Read: Taylor’s is quite good. #a2council www.wemu.org/wemu-news/20...

Yousef Rabhi, candidate for #a2council mayor, alleges that the current mayor is only fixing the roads downtown because it's an election year. What in the actual fuck are you talking about, man? www.wemu.org/wemu-news/20...
Ann Arbor is one step closer to adding 343 affordable housing units to its housing stock.
Proposed Ann Arbor high-rise would be first 100% affordable building along Stadium and Maple corridor
If it clears zoning review, a 12-story building on West Liberty Street would become the first 100% affordable high-rise made possible by transit corridor rezoning in Ann Arbor, according to a city council member.

Ann Arbor officials have OK’d tax breaks for a large affordable housing development on the city’s west side.
It’s nearly the same unholy alliance that came together to insist on keeping an empty parking lot in the middle of downtown instead of building a vibrant new library with housing above. We beat them last year and I deeply hope we can pull it off again this year. #a2council
Taylor's opponent is turning that progress against the Mayor, creating an unholy coalition of NIMBYs, MAGA, and good-hearted Bernie Backers who just saw the endorsement. He'll disappoint them all as Mayor. Here's why...
Right near our neighborhood - love to see it!
343 households will soon live near grocery & hardware stores, transit, world-class medical facilities, schools, and jobs. We love to see it. In the US, affordable housing is so complicated. We wrote an explainer with an Ann Arbor focus. Check it out. www.moreneighborsa2.org/affordableho...
