Linear B tablets are almost all boring administrative stuff, but they do include transfers of goods to temples for sacrifices or whatever, and from that we know that bronze age greek religion was way different. For example: Aphrodite seems to be an archaic age invention.

Michaels@sethdmichaels.bsky.social · 8h agothis is very cool, a lot of fun to read - and one of the many takeaways from it is that Homer is already sort of "non-canon" vis-a-vis previous Greek religious practice, as is a lot of what i'd call the "D'Aulaire's model" of "Greek mythology" that we've gotten in the modern west
