The co-founder of the 2024 National Uncommitted Movement, Abbas Alawieh, decisively won his primary to become a State Senator in Michigan. Abbas was endorsed by both Bernie Sanders and Gretchen Whitmer. Abbas Alawieh also privately met with former VP Kamala Harris last month upon her request.
Oh, so now he's a doctor? (Joking, good on Stevens for endorsing after what must have felt like a painfully close chance that spited the polling)

Personally, I think it's a good result for Democracy that an anti-oligarch candidate can win a primary while outspent 10 to 1 and I don't especially care about the margin of that win

Primary polls have historically been rather unreliable, and a surge in new primary voters means turnout assumptions matter more than usual

Personally mad that this didn't end in an early call because I was dumb enough to tune into coverage when I need to get up super early
Really straining my "don't pine for the losers" belief but yeah, really have to wonder what she would have done in a two-person race and it was a massive failure of the DSCC to back Stevens instead of McMorrow

The Downballot@the-downballot.com · 15h agoSeems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.
There's been a lot of comparisons by Kornacki for Stevens compared to Clinton, Biden, Whitmer (which makes sense, you focus on the one chasing the lead) But in the other direction, it seems like Abdul is running way short of Sanders in rural areas
Don't think that will do it for her, but this is going to be close

A really funny possibility is that McMorrow dropped out of the race to avoid being a spoiler and will still wind up covering the spread between the winner and runner-up
This has been a massive gutcheck to my confidence regarding what the polling says about November
G Elliott Morris@gelliottmorris.com · 16h agoLooks like a 10-15 point polling miss in Michigan regardless of who wins. And people have been writing a lot of electability takes using this data. It’s dangerous out there folks be safe
Kornacki calling Mecosta a college community because of Ferris State is hilarious
Seeing the returns so far, makes me think the primary pollsters should have been including McMorrow in their last few polls because despite dropping out she was on the ballot and appears to be picking up almost 4% of the vote

Maybe I'm wrong about the stats, but I would not agree with that characterization of the racial makeup of those neighborhoods

A lot of people on here remain bitter about the version of Uncommitted they made up in their heads while high profile members of the actual Uncommitted are becoming mayors, state senators, members of Congress and maybe even part of the US Senate. In some cases, with establishment support.
