Never had an original thought Tech stuff; film photography; being a citizen (hard)

Since April 4, #SCOTUS has issued 15 rulings on 17 emergency applications filed by Trump (three birthright citizenship apps were consolidated). It has granted relief to Trump ... in all 15 rulings. It has written majority opinions in only 3. Today's order is the 7th with no explanation *at all.*

Here we go again: Over an acerbic dissenting opinion by Justice Sotomayor (joined in full by Justices Kagan and Jackson), #SCOTUS, with no explanation, grants a stay in the Department of Education RIFs case—effectively clearing the way for the Trump administration to dismantle much of the agency:

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was sent to a foreign concentration camp and BEATEN, TORTURED, and STARVED. - made to kneel overnight with guards striking anyone who fell from exhaustion - denied bathroom access - deprived of sleep - two weeks later he had lost ~31lbs US tax dollars paid for this.

Santa Barbara is the 94th largest city in California. Yesterday, more people attended Santa Barbara's NO KINGS protest than Trump's military parade in Washington, D.C. See chart comparing these two events, along with a drone shot courtesy of Ann Shaw/Society of Fearless Grandmothers, Santa Barbara

Red adverts stoke fear; why not do the same? Show troops on streets. People hungry. Families torn apart. Medical progress halted. Jobs lost. The difference – it’s all real, you don’t need it to be overdramatized like the GOP does… just show people what is happening, matter of fact.

Something the Democratic Party is NOT doing right now, which it MUST DO, Is run ads on EVERY MEDIA PLATFORM KNOWN UNDER SUN, about the unconstitutionality of using troops on domestic soil. STOP ASSUMING people learned the Constitution in school. THEY DID NOT! You cannot

BREAKING: Federal agents in plain clothes and unmarked cars tried to snatch 1st graders from LA elementary schools—told staff they had “parental consent.” They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.

Law enforcement officers should never cover their faces when making arrests or conceal their identities (unless they are working undercover). They work for us. We have a right to know who they are. These face coverings are frightening & unAmerican, as though they're ashamed of what they're doing.

JPMORGAN: “.. The trade war shock is still material. .. we now estimate an effective ex-ante tariff rate of 14.4%. This is akin to a $475bn tax hike on US households and businesses, worth 1.6% of GDP (still sitting close to the largest tax hike in the post WWII period).”

The California Secretary of State should waive the first year of annual franchise taxes for new small businesses, or until their gross receipts exceed a small amt. $800+ to incorporate is a high burden on many small businesses, and just encourages many people to operate outside of a business entity.

Here’s the fun part about all of this – because the feds are turning a blind eye and the people are distracted by the chaos, corporations are going to run amok with more unethical conduct and outright fraud than ever.

New @propublica.org reporting reveals that Blue Cross denied payments for thousands of procedures involved in breast reconstruction. But it approved special deals for executives’ wives. www.propublica.org/article/blue...

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die. Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.
