linktr.ee/jomaselli I try to write stuff & make things but I’m usually too sick & too busy raising a human. 🍁 tkaronto 🌴 via sicily & bari ♾️ AuDHD ♿️ disabled 😷 long covid + more she/her/miss/sir
Ahaha I’m so quirky I’m not disabled at all I’ve just alienated myself from everyone and can’t seem to stop & don’t really understand why it keeps happening.
You ever look back on an entire day & go, “well I wish none of that had ever happened.” But it did so now you have to like process it and sleep & then have a whole other day after that?
a lot of people act like there's a trade being offered where we give up trans athletes in sports and in exchange fascism is defeated forever
Social communication hack: if you don’t know whether or not someone is joking, just respond as if they are joking. That way, if they’re actually joking, you’re good. And if they’re not, they will get real mad, which is funny in a different way. This will not get you beaten up I promise.
Kids only know what you show them, and sometimes I worry that by showing my son that a life full of love, kindness & wonder is more desirable than a life full of money, fame & success, we are setting him for being even more confused & sad about the world than he naturally would have been.
Need to know how many of you also felt a bizarre affinity with Grimace as children & how neurodivergent you are.
You shouldn’t have to choose between loving your family & loving yourself.
The older I get the more convinced I am that witches have just been doing excellent PR for the most part (except for the era of witch burnings). Like yes, I am scary & ugly & dangerous & I *will* turn you into a newt if you don’t leave me alone in my little woodland cottage with my books & cats.
You are a mirror. How others treat you is often a reflection of them, not you. And if you have a habit of spotting patterns & speaking truths that are supposed to remain invisible & silent, the same type of people will have the same type of problem with you. But you are not the problem.
The people who love you shouldn’t make you feel like their love is conditional upon you showing up in the world a certain way or playing by arbitrary rules just to make others feel more comfortable with themselves. The people who love you shouldn’t make you want to stop existing.
I don’t know who needs to hear this but the people who love you aren’t supposed to hurt you If they did/do hurt you, that is not your fault. There is something wrong with them, not with you. Just because you love someone, does not mean you have to let them hurt you.
I hope that we will be able to help this generation of neurodivergent children understand that you don’t need to make your special interest into your profession. You can, & that works out fabulously well for some people. But if I’d known my obsession with creating educational experiences +
I have resisted for as long as I could, but my time has come: I am learning how to play Minecraft. Kudos to the kid who told me I’d love it back in 2011. If I was well & still working I would definitely use it in an educational capacity. Oh well.
it would be cool if people wanted to talk about how trans people are organizing for their rights and safety as much as people want to talk to cis people about what they think about the existence of trans people
60 yrs ago, sex workers, drag queens and street youth held a landmark riot against police in SF's Tenderloin—the world's 1st Trans District now that space is held by Geo Group. trans people are still arrested at SF Pride—over tagging Flock cams. the trans fight against police in '66 and today:
Blue books are a solution to cheating on exams. Exams are not education. They’re a notoriously crappy measurement of education.

ADHD Workflow -> sense tension in environment -> intense emotional reaction -> impulsive decision -> disrupted morning routine -> get sidetracked -> forget to finish morning routine -> forget to take meds -> almost miss appointment -> new side quest ideas introduced -> entire day ruined
Even a lot of people on the left are still way too stuck on the idea that wealthy powerful people got that way by being smart and making plans and forming accurate reads on the world and it’s really just not like that, sorry, the truth is so much stupider
a lot of people think that faillison hired bari weiss to deliberately destroy CBS news and i think all of you need to consider the possibility that he hired her because he genuinely thought she would be successful.

Today is a Provincial Day of Action for public education in Ontario, so it would mean the world to me if you could like & share this thread ❤️ Let's be real: if we were going to rewrite Dolly Parton’s iconic song “9-to-5” to reflect the realities of today’s teachers, we'd have to rename it "24/7.”+
A Canadian study of nearly 9,000 adults looked at repeat COVID infections. Researchers found that people who reported having COVID at least twice had 76% higher odds of being diagnosed with a new health condition, across 21 conditions studied, compared with those who reported never being infected.

baiting an LLM into uploading itself to my PC then pulling out the ethernet cord and shaking the computer around like a child who caught a firefly in a jar
This is the same guy who believes that LLMs could upload themselves to random peoples personal computers to stop themselves being turned off lol
Does anyone else find threads like super anti-Black & especially hostile to Black women (who generate a ton of content that keeps Meta relevant, btw)? Just read comments of a bunch of white ppl dogpiling a Black woman scholar & YIKES. Performative morality out the wazoo. Anyways I’m on Threads now.
trans people are by and large the working class. we get paid less than cis people overall (trans men make less than cis women, and trans women make less than everyone). we face housing and job discrimination. when will the conmentariat get this into their goddamned heads
i think it should be more commented on that jacobin put out a 57 page report that basically says candidates need to moderate on social issues, in particular trans rights
i'm not sure if robert kraft quite grasps what he started
The Irish musician Aaron Rowe has said he is withdrawing as a support act on Ed Sheeran’s tour.
