I love the tech space, but tech news channels are repeating the same bad news. It's good to know what's going on, but I need to back away from it a good bit. Once the Steam Frame comes out, I'ma focus on the longevity of the tech I already have at that point. Too much bad news makes me enjoy it less

I directed and helped edit the DJ Hype video! @gabjankums.bsky.social did all the fancy edits and @oatcake.bsky.social helped me film with Finn! This is my first year on staff, and I'm pumped that this is finally out! Also, that's my voice going "DJ Selection" and what not :)

Once people get that steam controller, I want to see people set up the grip sensors to be able to flip their hands up to move pinball flippers. The idea of moving your hands to control a similar motion in game is really interesting to me, and I hope people get really creative with it.

Some people's brains make up noises on the edge of being awake and asleep. For years, I've had the ability to manifest realistic sounds while I'm in that state. It's kinda cool.

This perspective of "you own nothing" seems more pessimistic than it needs to be. It's fair to say that there is less opportunity for ownership, but there are totally alternatives when you back away from subscriptions. GOG is DRM free, you can digitize your old media, etc. Just look and act on it.

People talk about The Year Of #Linux Desktop, but no one has set a threshold of what that means. Every year has such steady growth that I feel that we'll only know the year by reflection unless a threshold is set. Is the threshold what kicked off the growth, reaching a milestone, or does it matter?

Weird thought... So the Steam Frame is going to have USB-C on the back for charging AND data. With it being basically a PC, I'm wondering how easy it could be to plug that into a dock with HDMI and make it a low powered PC outside of VR as well. I'm so curious about the use cases from this thing.

I feel like new AI-isms that will be spoted in games will be a reflection on what has been done over and over, because AI averages out to the nearest trope. This will most likely encourage devs to make even more unique projects out of spite. Indies & real art will always shine through. Fuck gen AI.

Watching a demo of how you can turn every NPC in your RPG town into somebody who says "That's right — you *are* the four LIGHT WARRIORS. You make a great point! The bridge to the main continent *does* need to be repaired, and you're just the person to do it."

MAAAAAAN, I had a dream where I was using the Steam Frame. It was in my grasp, on my head, then I woke up. I didn't realize how much I wanted this thing. I generally abstain from feeling I need products, but like I've been saving for years for the potential that a new Valve headset would be a thing

YouTube Shorts are my doom scroll poison. I HAVE FOUND THE HACK TO DEFEAT IT!! I know it's convenient to have YouTube history on, but I really don't miss it when the exchange of having it off is far greater. You can adapt to saving videos in playlists if you really need to remember something.

A screenshot of text from the youtube shorts page that says
"Recommendations are off. Your watch history is off, and we rely on watch history to tailor your Shorts feed. You can change your settings at any time, or try searching for Shorts instead. Learn more"

@sodaraptor.bsky.social Hay, have you considered putting your games on GOG? With Steam's DRM, people (including me) have been getting more games on GOG and Itchio. GOG games have been more convenient to play compared to itch on Linux/SteamOS by using GOG through Heroic Launcher.

#Linux #LinuxGaming The Linux community growing is great, but I'm confused when people talk about 'The Year of Linux Desktop'. People speculate that it will happen every year, but no one defines what the threshold is. What all do you think needs to happen for that "Year of Linux" threshold to pass?
