Forget the cash savings (which will be significant), it was simply time for OKC to move on from Lu Dort. JDub can assume the bigger wing defensive assignments. Cason Wallace still around for point-of-attack defense. Ajay Mitchell is ready. McCain deserves minutes. OKC needs to see what Topic is.

Lu Dort was the longest-tenured Thunder player. His signing was 4 days before The Paul George Trade was official, though he’d agreed to the deal on draft night. In some ways, he’s a relic from the old days. Brought in with PG and Russ in mind. Became a core piece of a rebuilt core.
