Absolutely right. The sheer irrationality of most Nazi ideology can't be underplayed. Anti-science, conspiracy theory obsessed & full of magical thinking. Goodrick-Clarke's book 'The Occult Roots of Nazism' is old but captures much of this well. Often not literally believed but created a culture.

Ian is correct. I've been banging on about this for years. Civil defence and national resilience are not taken seriously enough in the UK despite their multiple benefits for society outside of 'crisis management '.

There’s things the government could do to help, such as rolling out first aid training or even go so far as to resurrect the Civil Defence Corps. But I doubt there’s any money or appetite for that. It’s all about self help and volunteering nowadays. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
