Lunasa and Samhain are the historic Gaelic harvest festivals. The first, named for Lugh (spelled Lughnasadh in Old Irish) is a celebration of the early harvests and of the community, while Samhain celebrates the last harvest and is a festival of remembrance. #WyrdWednesday

An unknown artist's depiction of Lunasa, showing a field full of people harvesting while up front one such woman, gathering blueberries, is surprised by the appearance of a crow in the wheat field; the sea is in the far background, on a bright day.

This is a good point. I cannot go to a demonstration as the risk of being convicted of something is quite high, given illiberal laws in the UK, but if you’re an actual convicted Nazi that’s all cool, as long as you have a British passport. Well done Kemi Badenoch.

Reminder that the Tories believe any non-British person who commits more than a minor parking or traffic offence should be automatically deported. They “believe in second chances”, apparently, but only for literal Nazis.

It is somewhat hilarious that Chris Nolan has made 2(4, technically) movies about famous heroes who are iconically known for their cleverness, brilliance, tricks, & polyamory & turned them both into heroes primarily defined by the ability to endure suffering & pain & their deep romantic commitment.

Regarding the myth about the "distinct" separation between an "honourable" Waffen-SS and the rest of the SS: an example from one of my books. Mind that in December 1944, Sickel was the doctor (!!!) of Peiper's tank regiment.

The killed/missing the Heer alone suffered in France during Fall Rot amounted to 27,701 of whom 118 were missing. There were probably another 60-70,000 wounded during this period so total casualties likely >100,000. One presumes Pochin believes in her pea brain that they all stubbed their toes.

I will fight and die on the hill that no one fought braver and better in 1940 than the French army in June, knowing that their best troops had already been lost and the Germans would show them little mercy
