new bevy release is neat, bsn is a nice ergonomic improvement. Every time I fiddle with it over a weekend it’s better than the last time, and the showcase stuff in their discord has gotten so much more impressive over time.

genuinely I don’t understand people who argue that AI slop in software engineering is OK because that problem existed before. If something makes a problem worse, that thing is bad. The fact that the problem existed previously at a lesser magnitude does not absolve the thing that made it worse.

I’m not really sure what the point of mastodon is if there’s not a strong sense of specificity of space. What’s the point of having separate domains if they don’t each have their own norms? It’s not clear to me what the value prop is of federated administration without per-domain culture.

a lot of people who love genAI love it because they were incapable of creating anything, but there’s a second group that was always capable, who like genAI almost exclusively because it gives them the sensation of being in control of an other, engaging with it as a type of synthetic dominance
