At the beginning of my writing career a well known SF author publicly eviscerated the first thing Iβd ever written that was truly my own for nearly ten minutes before I politely asked him to stop. It very nearly ended my writing career before it really started, but Iβm glad I stuck it out.

Ai-generated submissions clog up the limited resources these outlets have by making their staff jump through extra hoops to try and identify bad actors. Itβs an exhausting and thankless task that could be better spentπ

A good example of how GenAI is not any kind of tool of equality or diversity, but really the exact opposite.

This is the kind of idiocy you get on Threads. I think the main purpose of pursuing a PhD is to develop your thinking, research, and communication skills, which you can't do in 45 minutes on Claude.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 12: In a world in which most agents and publishers may receive as many as 100 unsolicited manuscripts per day, some literally written in crayon, and have (if they're lucky) one member of staff to deal with them all, gatekeepers are essential.
