The whole focus of groups like the Campaign Against Antisemitism is to find old posts by leftwingers and get them expelled from parties. Yet with ex-Nazis they are all suddenly about forgiveness and 2nd chances? Clearly different rules apply if the offender is right wing and becomes pro-Israel.

It’s a low bar if you are a Jewish communal leader. All you have to say is ‘nobody should ever appoint ex-Nazis’. Yet Phil Rosenberg can’t even manage that. On the same day his organisation launched a festival to mark the 90th anniversary of the battle of Cable St. Laughable.

The JLC issued a short statement on Wednesday to welcome Bonehill-Paine's withdrawal as a Conservative candidate, but did not address his appointment as an adviser. However, the president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, Phil Rosenberg, told Times Radio it was "a good thing" that Bonehill-Paine would become an adviser to the culture and integration commission. "I think it is good to use the experiences of people who have themselves been down this track to counter radicalisation in other places," said Rosenberg, who said Bonehill-Pain was "probably the wrong fit" to be a councillor.

Bonehill has only apologised for his antisemitism, not for his Islamophobia. But he has long held both prejudices. In 2014 he pleaded guilty to starting a hoax that a pub had banned military personnel to avoid offending Muslims. Presumably his ongoing Islamophobia is why Badenoch likes him.

Any tips for tracing descendants of fairly well known figures? In this case of Sir Andrew Cohen, 1909-1968. I’m looking for his personal papers, they certainly existed in the past, as they were quoted from in a 1980 article. Any leads or ideas appreciated!

There is unfortunately a sizeable lump of the British Jewish establishment who have become so radicalised, that they genuinely do belong on Tommy Robinson marches and whose rhetoric is now indistinguishable from the BNP. They run ✡️ institutions & have dragged the whole discourse into the bin

Thank you to all of my crank wingnut friends who helped in the preparation of today’s column “I am a very racist far right crackpot from the intellectual side of the fascist operation - the kind that doesn’t throw traffic cones at policemen - and so are my friends”

This was a difficult piece to write. British Jews are a people who have benefitted from immigration, encouraged it and, yet, are also in the frontline of its most dangerous aspects. My piece tackles antisemitism brought over by immigrants and the danger, in particular, that comes from Muslim immigrants coming from other countries. Miliband as Foreign Secretary will likely mean a better policy on Israel/Palestine. I would expect more sanctions and further restrictions on arms sales. But keeping Mahmood as Home Secretary is a woeful decision.

If reports that Burnham will pick Mahmoud over Miliband for chancellor are correct then his government is over before it’s begun. It would be a disastrous move, signalling no change from Starmer. The Greens and Reform would be the beneficiaries.
