Divergent AKT Signalling Mechanisms Regulate GLUT4 Translocation and Glucose Uptake in Skeletal Muscle and Adipose Tissue
Background The serine/threonine kinase AKT is a key regulator of glucose and energy metabolism. Prevailing dogma suggests that AKT is an obligate intermediate for glucose uptake in all metabolic tis.....

Advantages of Skeletal Muscle Preservation in Settings of Weight Loss
“Quality weight loss” can be distinguished from regular weight loss in that the skeletal muscle is preserved. This can be achieved pharmacologically, by inducing mechanisms that preserve or increase ....

Addressing the Lp(a) hypothesis: will lowering Lp(a) decrease the risk of cardiovascular events?
Nature Reviews Cardiology, Published online: 17 March 2026; doi:10.1038/s41569-026-01278-8Elevated plasma concentrations of lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) are an important risk factor for several cardiovascular diseases. However, to date, elevated Lp(a) levels have not been directly targeted by clinicians because Lp(a) levels are almost entirely genetically determined and are comparatively resistant to standard lipid-lowering therapies. This unmet medical need might soon be addressed with the advent of potent Lp(a)-lowering therapies.
