'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

Credit to the Donkeys guys, who I have been critical of in the past. It’s a sharp contrast to the rest of British liberalism, which has - at very best - sat silently on its hands saying nothing, presumably because they understand just how badly incriminated the most prominent Sensible Moderates are.

The campaign group Led By Donkeys has received £27,000 in compensation after a giant banner it displayed in Parliament Square saying "Yes It's A Genocide" was seized by Greater London Authority officials and destroyed.
Representatives of the GLA arrived on the scene in central London and confiscated the 40-metre by 40-metre banner after it was unfurled on 4 December 2024, just over a year after Israel began its assault on Gaza after the 7 October 2023 attacks by Hamas. After legal letters were sent on behalf of Led By Donkeys demanding that either the GLA or Veolia cover the banner's cost, Veolia has agreed to pay £27,216.
Ben Stewart, a co-founder of Led By Donkeys, said:
"The Parliament Square banner was in collaboration with one of the world's leading genocide scholars, but still the authorities threw process out the window and simply seized and destroyed our property. Pursuing compensation was never about the money, it was about defending space to protest Israel's war crimes.
"Palestine protests are treated differently in Britain to all other forms of activism. Direct action is regarded as terrorism and words on a placard are rendered illegal.
Over the years we've delivered banners, put up billboards and done guerilla projections across the country, but the only time our equipment has been seized and destroyed was when it related to Palestine."

A short thread explaining trans exclusion in the law, and the Code of Practice, in response to a load of questions 🧵 Obviously this is necessarily simplified. I cannot write a legal textbook on Bluesky.

BBC says Iran are risking "wider war" by threatening UK bases that the US are being allowed to launch attacks from... No BBC I'd say thats Burnham taking that risk by allowing the attacks. We can't assist in bombing a place and be surprised when the place fires back at us

In October last year I was fired by Rockstar Games in what we believe was a union busting move. We lost our home. We lost 2 jobs with my partner being forced to resign. We lost a community. Most importantly however we had to leave our two dogs behind, one of which will never return.

Back in October, Rockstar Games fired 34 employees for alleged gross misconduct. The severity of these firings could have spelled the end for a burgeoning union effort that was underway, but it didn't. In fact, the union is now *bigger* than it's ever been before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym4z...

Most of my experience lies with Unity and Unreal (as well as doing smaller projects Raylib projects using the C# and C++ wrappers) but am open (and excited) about learning new engines!
