I think I’ve officially been AI-pilled now. Every problem I run into I now immediately think if it can be represented through a CLI for Claude Code to solve. It’s peak embarrassment, but I even asked the new Siri AI to find the 5 “best” photos of me for a dating profile 🥴
I couldn’t be any more happy with Unstoppable being the 100th film I’ve watched this year.
Th Odyssey didn’t quite land for me when I saw it last week. But I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Definitely going to go see it again, just wish it could be at IMAX.
Space walks in movies freak me the fuck out. Sunshine has the worst possible version of this with getting just melted by the sun if you go off too far.
There's this behaviour with AI that I've started to notice recently that has pretty corrosive effects on people/teams/companies: it has such a strong bias for action, and encourages this further people in this feedback loop. It'll take a lot of discipline from folks to handle this sustainably.
DM: They put Jared Leto in Tron now. EK: He makes every movie better Dan. Name one movie he made worse. DM: You know what? I can’t just name one movie that he made worse. www.flophousepodcast.com/2025/01/fh-m...

Sunset Boulevard, but its Meg Ryan singing about the death of the rom-com
Went to a screening of The Dark Knight. Perfect movie. But god damn is it LONG. Sitting there for two hours knowing I have a 5th act to wrap up and yet another set piece.
Given Jeremy Allen White is second billed in The Mandalorian and Grogu, I’m expecting he plays Grogu?
I think my most grating movie trope is the fake TED Talk or company keynote presentation.

Software Developers Say AI Is Rotting Their Brains
“It's making me dumber for sure.”

Ugh - I hate to be one of those guys, but the whole The Mandalorian S2/Book of Boba Fett/Mandalorian S3 thing just completely vindicates how unappealing I find modern franchises, especially Disney’s take.
I had the great pleasure to give a presentation about our partnership with Google to offer Grafana for internal observability today at GrafanaCon with Katia Giarda from Google monitoring #GrafanaCon2026
Watched Project Hail Mary a second time tonight. Somehow even better than the first time. In contrast with The Drama which I came away a lot more impressed the first time than when I rewatched it yesterday. 2026 is the time for hopecore movies.
Perfect letterboxd moment. You watch a masterpiece. See it averages 3 stars. Everyone you follow gave it 5/5.
Don Cheadle coaching Julia Roberts on her Julia Roberts accent in Ocean’s Twelve is a diabolical level of metatextuality.
It is a very, very weird time to be a software developer and anybody who tells you they know where this is going is deluded. We have shaken the kaleidoscope as hard as we can and the pattern it will land in is a total unknown.
i don't even know these nerds, but they're right. ive been denying this part of myself
I think there's so many other second/third order effects of agentic AI coding tools that have barely been explored. What does it mean to 'increase your productivity' 50% as a developer? I can barely keep up with code review as it is!
I keep getting whiplash between hyperbolic takes on AI — the developers who are convinced their jobs are gone because it's so good, mixed with the non-devs who are outraged because it clearly has no value, to people 100% sure it cannot be stopped destroying humanity, to– Seeking the cold takes
I'm reasonably bought into AI tooling, but this whole Clawdbot/OpenClaw/whatever seems like crazy town to me. Anything that inserts untrusted input into an LLM (via MCP or tool calls), and has "write access" to any other tool (file system, cli, email, etc) is just ripe for prompt injection attacks
Watching Battlestar Galactica, and I’m really not as bought into it being a masterpiece as everyone else seems to be. This Gaius fellow and his hallucination(?) is by far the biggest drag.
once again im browsing the internet, and run into random github comments unrelated to work from coworkers from like 7 years ago.
Just finished Porco Rosso in my watching of the Miyazaki filmography, and somehow I’m getting a feeling like guy likes planes!
