I research critical phenomenology and law - but the majority of my posts are cats, zines and crafty creations
Delighted that the summer I turned into a doctor is leading into the Autumn I started my new role as a Law Lecturer at Manchester Law School Excited to be joining a faculty of such brilliant, vibrant, creative academics 🥳
I acquired some vintage index card drawers to house my academic reading notes and this brings me more happiness than I care to admit
"I study feminist theories of embodiment" is OUT. "I'm a femininomenonologist ✨️💅" is IN.

Punishment based writing buddy system - if either of us miss a day we have to eat a raw egg (this is medically ill-advised please don’t copy me)
Alright, share your terrible writing tips that actually work. Mine is: stop for the day in the middle of a paragraph, a sentence, even in the middle of a word. It feels SO wrong but it makes it 1000x easier to pick up the thread the next day.
Whenever I’m asked to explain phenomenology
how it feels to be asked about your research
We are witnessing an ongoing genocide in Gaza and those who speak out against Israel’s violent actions in Palestine are sanctioned. It’s perverse (not to mention illegal) for countries to enable the perpetrators of genocide while punishing those who oppose it.
US sanctions UN expert Francesca Albanese, critic of Israel's Gaza offensive
Secretary of State Marco Rubio linked the move to her support for the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Cayley "began receiving anonymous, threatening phone calls saying “you’re in a very dangerous position”. And last summer, the 🇳🇱 police & security services turned up at the court to warn that he was in considerable danger." Must-read article on why Cayley quit the #ICC. observer.co.uk/news/interna...

Am I correct in understanding that the story in the UK today is that someone chose to chant "death to IDF" and *not* that the IDF is shooting civilians trying to access food at aid distribution sites? Right.
Over the weekend @benedictdouglas.bsky.social and I were lucky enough to run an amazing zine making session at the East Midlands NEU Activist Summer School Throughout the day we reflected on our role in addressing the rise of the right & its corrosion of our democracies 👇🏼Link to our zine below
It's your last chance to respond to the EHRC consultation. It closes at 11.59pm tomorrow. Get it done tonight. Tell them about the personal impact. Better to do something short and quick than not at all. Don't let them claim we didn't tell them.
Delighted to have been shortlisted for a Durham teaching innovation award and even more delighted that my supervisor @profturner.bsky.social won the excellence in supervision category 🥳 Durham Law School represented well with Catherine, myself and Can Eken (shortlisted for tutor of the year) 🎊🎉🍾

The EHRC's lawyers admitted its position re. toilets adopted in its interim update (specifically mandating employers to have single-sex toilets instead of individual gender neutral cubicles) was wrong. We think they're even more wrong still, though.
Art was never my thing. But, a fabulous teach out at Newcastle today with Rebecca Coleman. Thinking about utopias, new materialism, materials and some Utopian Zine Making!

Yearly reminder that pride is not just a nice little parade, it is grounded in resistance to oppression. This is especially important to remember this month, when in the UK and the US, our trans siblings are under threat. Their ability to enter public spaces on equal terms is being threatened; 1/

This goes not just for Zack, but for everyone: stop being squeamish about saying 'trans.' It's the trans community specifically under attack right now and a trans councillor who's had to resign because of that. Don't 'all lives matter' it. Say trans.
Huge solidarity with Dylan. Everyone deserves the right to live peacefully and our LGBTIQA+ community are far too often under attack. This Labour Party are failing to stand up for basic human rights. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
I spent the day doing research (reading queer & feminist zones) at the Baltic in Newcastle. It was pretty great
