Rollercoaster of a day. Really up after the day's writing, really down over the lack of engagement with the things I've worked on this week. Brutal. But, hey. C'est la vie, innit? Feel shitty, walk it off, keep going. It's the only way it gets better.

Mixed feelings about my ATOMFALL novel. Delighted that it's out, less so that it was published four months ago and I only found out today. That aside, I think I did good work with this and, considering its less than barnstorming release, It's got nice reviews. ATOMFALL: THE SECRETS OF WINDSCALE

Sneaky suspicion that the daft "taking a break from the book" story I'm writing might be a bit TOO specifically my own sense of humour. I'm still going to write it, just might be a tough sell. Meh.

So the step counter I bought is a bust. Works great but thanks to the combination of a sedentary workday and ADHD-related foot tapping I'm clocking tens of thousands of steps per day without going anywhere. Bugger. Wonder how many calories are burned per-tap.

Horror. Also, on my car the wiper stalk goes down to increase the wipeyness, up to reduce the wipeyness. Extra horror.

Started a Parks & Recreation rewatch and I'm adding to my personal to-do list, "befriend Amy Poehler. I'm figuring that when I inevitably write something that Nick Offerman damn near breaks his legs to act in I'm one degree of separation away. Not quite a two-fer, but at worst a one-point-a-bit-er.

One of the least-funnest things about being a writer on the socials is when you post about something you're working on and it's met with tumbleweeds. It never feels good but it's also totally fine, it's totally normal, and your friends owe you dick all. Don't get in your head about it. Move on.

Also, for Reacher fans, Neagley has now started on Amazon. She was a favourite bit player in the main show and Maria Sten thoroughly deserves to stand front and centre. Hoping that Amazon does right by her because this could be fantastic.

One of my favourite shows finished just recently and I'm going to really miss Colin From Accounts. Funny show with a fantastic cast, a lot of really quite damaged characters, but at the centre of it all a lot of heart. Three great seasons and a smooth landing. Find it on BBC iPlayer.

Biggest response I've had to a writing-related post in a long time just came from asking people if they'd like me to kill them in a story. From that I've got a list of names I now don't have to invent, it was a bit of fun with friends, and it felt great. Got to enjoy those moments! #amwriting

Weird thing about writing a comedy book - it feels really arrogant to think I'm funny enough. It's got its own kind of imposter syndrome, maybe because so many of the professionals are such relentlessly clever and insightful people. Do you ever feel that way? #amwriting #impostersyndrome #comedy

Just connected some mental dots about why I've come to love "living ship" science fiction in my reading material as a growed-up person. Knight Rider, Blue Thunder, Air Wolf, Seaquest: DSV, Cannonball Run, Flight Of The Navigator... I've been enjoying "the car's a character" fiction forever.
