To me, the biggest upside to publisher rejections is this: you might figure out a waaaaaaaaaay better way to write the thing later. Two weeks later. Two months later. Two years later. Um, I'm living that RIGHT NOW. I've lived it lots. Sometimes you've actually dodged a bullet.
