To me, the biggest upside to publisher rejections is this: you might figure out a waaaaaaaaaay better way to write the thing later. Two weeks later. Two months later. Two years later. Um, I'm living that RIGHT NOW. I've lived it lots. Sometimes you've actually dodged a bullet.

Word that’s making me smile today: gökotta. It’s a Swedish concept that means waking up early and going outside to appreciate the stillness of the morning and listen to the birds singing in the new day.
