I wrote the first reported Maryland opinion that had emoji in it. But they appeared in the block quote of the text messages that formed an important part of the record--they weren't part of our analysis. I agree with Judge Dillard that we want opinions to be accessible, but most of all professional.

I’ve been working in power walking to my fitness routine this year, so I was pleased to get a PR this morning for my half-mile benchmark.
I had a coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan this week, and my calcium score was 0—which is as good as it gets. If you’re 40 or older, or your doctor encourages you to have a CAC scan done, I strongly recommend you do so.
Many of my @MercerLAWSchool Appellate Practice & Procedure students—as well as other recent law school graduates—are taking the Georgia Bar exam this week. Please know that I’m praying and rooting for you. Take deep breaths, pace yourself, and don't talk to anyone during breaks. You've got this!
