And if they also think, “it’s kinda outrageous what happened here, why doesn’t anyone else see that?” it’s a terrific brief.
If they’ve read your brief and think “boy this case is just pretty simple it’s kinda obvious that your guy should win” then that’s a good brief.
Good legal writing, too. If the judge or the clerk is reading your brief thinking what a genius you are, you messed up.
Andrew Hickey@andrewhickey.500songs.com · 3mo agoOne problem with good country music is that whenever I hear it I convince myself I should be a songwriter, because songs like "Together Again" or "Goodbye" or "Pancho and Lefty" are so straightforward they must be easy to write. (Songs that straightforward are not easy to write)
Students, if you’re thinking about dropping a note to that teacher or professor about what their class/project/mentorship has meant to you, but you worry it will be cringe or cheesy, let me just tell you they will coast on the fuzzy feelings prompted by that note for months, if not years
