Today university fees rise again, while thousands of academics across the country face job cuts, crushing workloads and shattered morale. Students deserve better than this broken system of unfair repayment that widens inequality. Abolish fees and fund universities properly!

Is “pragmatic” the new, “grown up” word? Andy, there’s nothing “pragmatic” about drilling for more oil & gas - to even consider it with the planet literally on fire is total madness. How many times must we say it will do nothing for energy bills or security? It would be an act of utter recklessness

Burnham promises ‘pragmatic’ approach to North Sea oil and gas

PM tells reporters the government cannot ignore the energy resource ‘when people are struggling’

Let's hold the Govto its promise! No new oil and gas in our seas. Offshore drilling causes hundreds of toxic spills, deafens whales, and won't even lower our energy bills. It's time to stop letting Big Oil profit at the expense of our ocean. Add your name: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/st...

Stop Big Oil billionaires polluting our seas for profit

The Government must keep its promise to ban new offshore oil and gas. Drilling harms marine wildlife, causes toxic spills, and won't lower our bills. Add your name to protect our ocean!

Do not give the time midday to any political leader, party, MP or media pundit, spokesperson or anchor who says we need more fossil fuel investment. Phase fossil fuel use out from today and listen to Zack Polanski if you can’t make your own mind up from all the wildfires and heat waves.

Terrifying to see wildfires raging through Scotland. The climate crisis isn't a distant threat - it's right here and right now. How many warning signs and alarm bells until Andy Burnham takes action to end oil and gas drilling?

I’ve just signed this petition for a public inquiry into violence at our border. I was shocked when I read about the horrible violence kids and even babies are living through there - and we’re paying for it! Please sign and share. you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/st...

Zack Polanski, "YouGov shows the Green Party polling first with the under 50s" "Kemi Badenoch is pushing misinformation because there is no job security in the North Sea" "We have extracted most of the reserves" "The answer is obvious, renewable energy. We need to be investing in that"

Despite more than 1 in 4 MPs signing my motion against the Code, it is due to come into force without any debate or vote in Parliament. I have written to the Minister for Women and Equalities urging her to withdraw it now. 2/2

Woke up this morning to discover that I am now hoping that Count Binface wins the by-election. Saying that I don't know whether to laugh or cry doesn't quite cover it since mainly I am angry but it does feel very British.

This is amazing; 40 women’s organizations standing in support of trans people’s human rights against this government’s targeting of trans people against the EHRC transphobic code. Trans people and cis women’s rights are not in opposition.

I hate the way we’re barrelling headfirst towards a self-inflicted epistemological crisis: AI-written books, cynically edited political speeches, deepfake art, AI music pap, fabricated podcast slop, YouTube flooded with cute animals and influencers who don’t exist, LLMs that hallucinate… HATE IT!

Farage is making millions from his public position - on top of the millions he’s been given. Does it matter? He doesn’t think so or think it’s any of our business. But then you look at donations to his limited company, masquerading as a political party - and you see Crypto dealers dominate.

All the people who are saying it's too expensive to tackle climate change today are the same people who twenty years ago said that climate change wasn't really happening

This is not climate change, this is climate breakdown. I am haunted by the thought that we will be the last generation to remember life under a reasonably stable weather system. Yet there still seems to be little urgency from many to make the political, structural and personal changes needed.

In Birmingham this week and had a quite temperate walk by the canal. Because trees and wildflowers and water and not just an area wrapped in concrete and asphalt. A/Cs are expensive to run and bad for the environment. Create more green space

Also, laying the blame so fully on Musk - who is absolutely a dangerous and contemptible racist creep - is very convenient for the UK's newspapers, news channels and politicians who've either spread the self-same racist myths, 24/7, for decades, or have entirely abandoned any pushback against them.

Ian Ford 🇪🇺 🇺🇦@ianford.bsky.social · 2mo ago

I think we have to be careful about crediting Musk with power he doesn't have. That way you help feed the myth of being the omnipotent all-powerful puppet master that controls everything that happens in the world. That's the main psychological con-trick they use to make opponents give up in advance.
