"It should not go unnoticed that whenever the inflation conversation takes hold, profits never enter the chat. The usual suspects are happy to talk further cuts – to services and jobs – but never actually raising funds from those businesses that benefit from our pain." #RBA #inequality #auspol

The RBA media team is becoming known for contacting journalists and media outlets critical of its decisions and decision making process - but the criticism doesn't actually go far enough. www.thenewdaily.com.au/news/politic...

What kind of mindset sees such wonders - the return of our bluefin tuna - and thinks "let's catch them for 'sport'" or "let's kill them and sell their flesh". It's not only monstrous philistinism, but also idiot economics. Many would pay well to witness this wonder. Extractivism is our enemy.

What's happening here is that as the garfish flee from the bluefin tuna hunting them, they run into the seals waiting in the wings, who drive them into the rocks (right under our feet). 1/3

The ultimate outcome of folks paying higher mortgages is not slower price increases, it's more of us being made *actually* poor, because employers fire people or cut casual shifts to maintain profit. Unemployment is by design & the RBA chief doesn't care a bit about how many lives she destroys.

Why does the Reserve Bank want to make Australians feel poorer? 🤔 Co-CEO Richard Denniss answers this question and more in the latest episode of 'What's the Point?' 🏦🏦🏦 #auspol @richarddenniss.bsky.social

At some point we’ve got to stop seeing this as a series of oopsies moments and recognise that we are in institutional collapse. This system never “worked” the way we pretend it did. But at least there was some semblance of responsibility, of learning from mistakes It’s over. Time to build new ones

Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.

If that's what the Israelis do to foreign nationals with cameras rolling, just imagine the treatment Palestinians receive. Oh wait - we don't need to imagine; we have numerous reports from the UN, NGOs, the NY Times, Palestinians themselves... But Australian media prefers to ignore that evidence.
