Certitude is not the test of certainty. Telecom law > big data startups > cannabis edibles. For consumer protection; against consumer fraud. Actual human being. caliperholdings.com / tryripple.com / getript.ninja

Virtually no one who cites a need to "beat China" in the "AI race" ever bothers to explain what any of that actually means: what the stakes are, where the finish line is, why we're racing in the first place, what "winning" looks like, etc. Largely vibes-based techno-nationalism.

if you had a family where your parents said “oh, that’s a good point, i was wrong”, you are poorly prepared for a court and courts full of people who *enjoy* saying “we’re not talking about this anymore, decision’s made” when you make a perceptive or accurate point.

Wonder why most Dems yelling about Trump profits from presidency don't mention crypto, the biggest contributor to his billions? Because they'd be catching strays from themselves. We can't make a national issue of Trump crypto corruption because stuff like this & Dems' grab for crypto PAC money.

"vote blue no matter who" is unfortunately completely irreconcilable with "we need to burn out corruption root and stem." sad to say making this omelet is going to take longer than we had hoped

I'd now pay a *massive* premium for enterprise software that promises to keep AI off the roadmap. I've invested years into platforms only to watch them embrace vibe coders too lazy to read a document. These companies' support forums are full of long-time customers making this point! And yet...

A straight feed of what the user has chosen to follow: Not a publisher, carry on as you are. Foisting all manner of shit into that feed and artificially boosting certain accounts/ opinions? Congratulations, you're bound by the same laws as The Sun. Better hire a lot of moderators, pronto.

Treating any communication platform that algorithmically selects which content to put in front of a user as a publisher, and legally responsible for that content, is the screamingly obvious solution that will deeply upset maybe seven companies and make life considerably better.

One of the obvious problems with a under-16 social media ban is that it won't work. (60%+ of Australian under-16s are still using these platforms). But it will make people feel like something has been done so they won't tackle the content, which is the real issue.

This book is great BTW. And it's as close to exposing a "Moon-landing conspiracy" level lie as anything I've ever read. Because the truth is that the government has millions of loyal, hardworking, and not just competent but ELITE people working for the betterment of all of society.

I spent the afternoon reading Michael Lewis' new book, Who is Government. Each chapter is written by a different author and highlights an individual and/or department/agency of our government and the important work they do for our country. It's truly inspiring...

There's something darkly ironic (dystopian?) about the former head of Uber's self-driving unit not thinking critically about the accountability issues inherent to such services until his own "self-driving" Tesla crashed with his kids in the backseat. archive.is/VQQs1
