Crime and spy fiction fan in 🇦🇺. I’m interested in 🇫🇯 🇫🇮 🇱🇻 🇮🇸 🇩🇪 🇨🇦 and sometimes 🇺🇸.
Lawrence Sanders’s novel, which came along ten years before RED DRAGON, is overlooked in discussions of early serial killer novels. It’s probably too much for modern sensibilities, featuring taboos like incest and child abuse, but it’s a masterpiece.
I recorded a commentary track for THE FIRST DEADLY SIN—not just Frank Sinatra’s final film, but a shocking fusion of ‘70s New Hollywood noir with ‘80s Cannon Films sleaze. A shattering detective film that prefigures SE7EN. Out now via @vinsyn.bsky.social: vinegarsyndrome.com/collections/...
No disrespect to Glenn A. Baker, who did good work to publicise and promote the music he loved; I’m just surprised that he was only 74 when he died. He seemed to have been born at age 55 and had been around for the last 40 years.
Curious, fun story – but I’m in a nitpicking mood and I’m calling bullshit on the estimate of $28,000 for the overdue fine. ‘allowing for inflation’ doesn’t mean anything in respect of unindexed debts; even if it did, the calculated sum would be far less. #kiama www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
Book returned to Australian library – 150 years overdue
The book, Antiquities of Athens, was handed back to Kiama library by a man who found it bricked into a wall

“Film you've watched more than six times with a gif. “Hard mode: no Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, Disney, or Ghibli.” Yeah nah. There is no movie worth watching that often. And definitely not any of those studio/franchise movies. Further, fuck off with that ‘Oxford comma’.

I’m trying to re-home a small poodle that barks a LOT. If interested DM me and I'II jump over my neighbor's fence and get it for you.
One of my reading happy places is a whipcord thin crime novel & a big arsed history/biography. In the cafe. Or the pub.
Does anyone have contact details for Charli xcx? I need to explain to her how Roman numerals work.

A strong last-minute try (converted) makes it 57-10 to the Wallabies. Italy didn’t really turn up to play but it’s still a gratifying win. #ausvita
That’s the first time I’ve ever seen a red card given to a player on the bench. #ausvita
Another try makes it 50-10 to the Wallabies. Once again, Meredith aims his conversion kick left of the posts and the ball duly sails left of the posts. How can he and the coaches not see this? Aim between the fucking posts! #ausvita
Six tries in the first half see the Wallabies sitting pretty at 38-5. #ausvita
Lonergan points his fourth conversion attempt left of the posts and it somehow goes out to the right. This is Bernard Foley-level boot ineptitude. Wallabies up 24-5. #ausvita
Three tries and 19-0 to the Wallabies in 13 minutes. 👀 #ausvita
Good early try for the Wallabies. Ryan Lonergan aims his conversion kick left of the posts and guess what, it goes left of the posts. #ausvita

If Ireland keep running backwards in defence (like the Wallabies do), they’re going to be in their 22 all night. #nzlvire
All right. Let’s have some proper first-class test rugby. #nzlvire

Seriously: fuck the ‘Oxford comma’. No writer with a grasp of syntax and a feeling for style should use it. Readers who claim it removes ambiguity are not thinking clearly. #oxfordcomma
tl;dr the ‘Oxford comma’ is never necessary
