Was minding my business in the train station Relay and saw a magazine(Analyse-Opinion-Critque) dedicated to a discussion about the rise of fascism. Front and center of the news section, no pulled punches. Decided to pick up some light reading on economic crises.
i’d be curious to know whether any of the journalists who have taken to bluesky had prior experience in an earlier internet age with forums. for me at least, my acculturation into the social internet was by way of forums and so the lack of an algorithm seems natural to me.
Wondering how to handle image color extraction in Flutter now that palette_generator is deprecated? 🤔 My new blog post walks you through using `material_color_utilities` for a more robust and modern approach. Read more: jwill.dev/blog/2025/06... #FlutterDev #UI
CEOs using AI avatars for earnings calls reminds me of the plot of the 1993 movie Dave where a doppelganger filled in for the president while he in a coma. www.theverge.com/news/673194/... www.youtube.com/watch?v=taDr...

I know it might be welcomed by some folks, but if I book travel from you online, don't call me unannounced under guise of wanting to be helpful. How about you send the email FIRST and if I want to engage, I can. Unless there's gonna be a major change to my plans, cancelation, etc...don't call me.
as someone who lives nextdoor to both supportive housing and public housing, i need people to understand that the best locations for both are going to be the central neighborhoods in a metropolitan area, where there is easy and reliable access to services and jobs.

This post puts into words a lot of my gut feelings about folks advocating for letting AI take the wheel when coding vs purposeful collaboration and how overusage can hallow out one's skills. cekrem.github.io/posts/coding...

Why 'reflexive AI usage' sounds like a diagnosis I don't want next to my name

The hard truth is that there are some products you just can't make in America. These must be imported from elsewhere. Like chocolates, for example. American workers will always become overwhelmed by the speed of the conveyor belt. They'll end up shoving the sweets into their mouths and blouses
someone please tell Steam that it's okay to take up horizontal space on their store. this was taken on my 1080p monitor, too! screenshots, video, and the banner image are all scrunched down to the point where they're hard to see.
One thing I'll say to Democratic Party insiders... Please stop listening to people who make all of their money selling TV ads. Just...every Monday for the next year, spend time imagining what you'd do if you couldn't spend money on TV and had to do other things with that money.
Happened to turn on Sen Booker 20 secs before he broke the Filibuster record.
Baseball media: if you do not loudly report on this I do not want to hear a goddamn thing from you about Jackie Robinson on April 15. bsky.app/profile/fbih...
The Department of Defense deemed a story about baseball hero and civil rights leader Jackie Robinson's time in the Army as "DEI" and deleted it.
90% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die from the disease. That's why the medical community is excited about the results of a small trial in which nearly half of the pancreatic cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine for the disease remained relapse-free three years later.

Sharks are playing the Capitals. Have seen quite a few people wearing general DMV area and Baltimore O's merch. #NHL
I got to use my meager Japanese for the first time outside Japan. I was in the elevator and there were two Japanese ladies there chatting. When we got to the lobby, one of them hesitated (because I had luggage and she didn't). I gestured open handed and said "どうぞ" (douzo).
BREAKING: Elon Musk's rocket explosion nearly hit a commercial flight. This kind of content is being downranked on X. Please share it here. This is so dangerous.
If you are looking for versions of "Home" to compare Cynthia Erivo's to, skip the Diana Ross version ... Stephanie Mills was the originating Dorothy in The Wiz. This is the blueprint, from when she performed it at the Apollo. #Wicked #Oscars #TheWiz #TheWizardOfOz youtu.be/KPvIwq03NIY?...

The Monterey weather service office has also been impacted from a staffing standpoint. Thursday's terminations means the office now employs 12 meteorologists, two shy of its typical number.

A friend of mine who works in privacy and security would always quip that if he's doing his job right, few would know how bad things could get because most crises would be averted vs fixed after the fact. Makes it harder to get the impact of an arm that is meant to have things run smoother.
Tech infrastructure is invisible so we can’t see what is happening. But if we could, it’s like dismantling & changing the railways in the early 1900s at the peak of their power. They are changing where funding goes, how it flows, who drives it, but no one can see it. www.nextgov.com/people/2025/...
"daddy, what did you do in the war" son, i archived all 6,793 videos from the Kennedy Center before they disappeared from the internet we all did our part
I often listen to cop cams videos while I'm working as background noise. My faves are the check passing scams. Even with divided attention, I can easily notice the holes in the store. But they keep on digging. One time a lady's accomplices/ride saw the police roll in and they left her.
Dems got tricked into banning TikTok and letting Republicans/Trump swoop in like heroes to save it while potentially delivering the influential app right into the hands of nefarious actors. This is the same thing. They are being tricked into destroying the open Internet. They're a party of rubes.
I wrote about how particularly ridiculous it is that Senate Democrats, led by Dick Durbin, think the priority should be repealing Section 230 and undermining the very open internet we need more than ever right now. www.techdirt.com/2025/02/21/w...
