Had a great time at @everfreenw.com last weekend! I assisted Lauren Faust during her marathon autograph sessions, enjoyed many meals and moments with friends, did a little vendor hall shopping, and generally basked in good vibes and positivity. This con did not disappoint!

The majority of people are kind and supportive, but one person who gorges themself on the cruelty they inflict upon others can embody a whole community in your mind. Online art communities now are much better about weeding people like this out than they ever were before, and I am thankful for that.

When I say that you have to be leery of who critiques your art, your life will depend on it. The wrong person giving you critique will have you fighting with your own creativity, leaving you mentally unwell. Especially if you don't have enough people around you encouraging your art

I love when fantasy series have a dude called something like Stephen the All-Seeing, Keeper of the Demon Sword, hero of the Volcano Age. But in some tiny village, he's known as Bees Steve, that weird guy who loves beekeeping. The more uppercase titles the legend has, the funnier the contrast is.
