Not sure I can keep track of another social media thing but I’ll hang around here to talk about weird St. Paul things and crop art. 🤗
The #MNUFC Thunderwall is LOUD (complimentary) tonight, I can report from inside my house half a mile away with the windows closed.
The #1 question during my crop art demo time was “how long do these take?” which I couldn’t answer because I never keep track, but this is what I got done during my four hour shift yesterday.
I asked everyone who stopped by my crop art demo table today how long they’d waited in line. Most said 1.5 hours. No one minded; everyone thought it was worth it, was happy to be there, and excited for the rest of their day at the fair.
What kind of absolute fucking loser doxxes a crop artist. What the fuck.
MAGAts finally made some crop art that got displayed along with all the rest of the pieces, but that still wasn’t enough. A different crop artist has been doxxed, started receiving death threats, and had to leave the state because people were coming to her house. Absolutely vile people.
Right wingers love free speech unless they don’t like your speech. A piece above “Fauci Lied” (yes they put up conservative crop art too) was taken down for the safety of the artist, who has been doxxed. They are even calling her work. No one’s safety should be in question for the art they make.
A fun thing happening in crop art is that some artists are being doxxed and tracked down on their personal social media by folks who object to the subject matter of their pieces. 🙃 The fair prohibits entries under aliases, so our full names are out there. I think most of us are ok with it, for now.

Attn: Crop art line haters! You will have three options to view some of them after the fair. 1. Cream of the Crop: The Second Harvest exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, 9/19-11/29. 20-30 pieces will be there.
People of the Minnesota State Fair, we have GOT to stop letting Lulu’s catfish us.
In honor of tonight’s Grandstand concert, here’s a crop art piece I never quite finished and couldn’t have entered anyway since I was at the max entry limit. Cheese Sandwich, voiced by Weird Al on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. 😄
Here are some of my favorite crop art pieces that I haven’t seen shared yet!
When I made this crop art piece I was thinking a lot about the fawn response to trauma, and how often women find ourselves doing this “it’s okay, I’m not mad!” thing when faced with abusive men in unsafe situations. I wish we knew more about Renee Good than just her last words to her murderer.
I got to sit next to Amber as she put the finishing touches on this at our last crop art meetup right before the fair. Photos don’t do justice, it’s SO cool! Well deserved ribbon!
Crop Art(emis) II: Seeds of Tranquility Based on Craters of Time, taken by the crew during the Lunar Flyby on April 6, 2026. Black lentils and 90,000 pieces of quinoa stacked in eight layers on canvas board. Third place in Crop Art Class 1 (Natural Colors).
I do have to warn you guys that there are a very small number of non-liberal crop art pieces this year. 😬
The crop art room has been reconfigured this year to try to help ease congestion and to display art better. The entrance line will now start outside the building. Corn and soybeans have swapped places with scarecrows. There are still fast and slow lanes.
37. Did you know that starting last year, the crop art exhibit was meant to be gallery style, with no waiting in lines required? They added more wall and table space around the room for art. There is still not enough room for the art and there were still lots of lines.
Got all my 2026 crop art dropped off, now what am I supposed to do? (The answer is start on 2027 crop art.)
Seed art depicting a bag of Old Dutch Rip-L potato chips AND a tub of Top the Tater may be peak Minnesotan but oh right, lots of crop art goes full on Minnesota so it's difficult to choose.
Sorry devotees, not doing a full on MN state fair thread this year. But I can’t resist sharing Old Dutch seed art.
