Me, walking by a neighbor: OMG is your Lil My license plate moomin related? Neighbor young teen (pretends he doesn’t hear and ducks into car) Dad driving: yes! Me: I’m sorry I talked to your kid and ruined his life. 😁 But also I had to say something because I’m wearing a Moomin skirt right now!

One of the strengths of Minnesota's voting system is the ability to have a neighbor vouch for your eligibility. It helps people vote, and it's NOT a source of fraud. The witness requirements for absentee ballots are similar.

Because @mprnews.org continues to distribute outdated information about Minnesota's absentee ballot witness requirement, I want to restate the actual requirement. As always, the best advice is to follow the official instructions. The witness can be any U.S. citizen who will be 18 by election day.

Witness section of Minnesota absentee ballot signature envelope (version for registered voters) with highlighted text "I am at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the election and a citizen of the United States, or am a notary, or am authorized to give oaths."

AI is a trap. It will sometimes give you great accurate info so your brain thinks it can rely on it and when you’re in a rush, you just skip some of the checks. But it’s just a pattern guessing tool and people need to stop believing AI KNOWS anything. Disappointing that Hank Green fell for it.

Hank Green admitting to using A.I. in research and scriptwriting does unfortunately explain why they released a video on HRT full of (sometimes outright dangerous) misinformation

I don’t think it’s appropriate to call out on the front page of The Minnesota Star Tribune that the police chief is a “St. Paul native” in relation to his complaint against the mayor, an immigrant.

Photo of the chief with caption: St. Paul native Axel Henry
climbed the Police Department's ranks for 24 years before becoming chief in 2022.

Felix, the doofus, has a new terrible trick: when I call him to come inside by the side door, he realizes he hasn’t peed yet so he quick pees on the hostas near the door, but he starts to run inside before he’s done, peeing on himself and my leg in the process.

My phone widget today gave me highlights of my photos at a Kat Perkins concert at the MN State Fair. Except it was an Atmosphere concert and I’ve never seen Kat Perkins. Apparently she played a free show at the fair that same day. Half ass AI gonna half ass

The return of the rogue chicken! The neighbors happened to be out. They didn’t seem to care much. I awkwardly noticed the people after I talked to their other (fenced) chicken, telling her that her buddy had escaped again.

I think talking to dogs and chickens just makes my Minnesota accent come out. It might be sticking now, though. Anyway, we reported the loose chicken to the coop owners, who said it was the neighbors’ and they’d try to wrangle it.
