This will result in children, mostly babies, dying for no reason. CDC reduces access to RSV, meningitis, flu, and COVID shots. Now only rec for "at risk" kids...but it's impossible to know if they're at risk until it's too late to vaccinate. RSV in babies is brutal, even when they survive.

"It may be a "better thing" if fewer children receive the flu vaccine, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told CBS News, after the Trump administration announced sweeping changes to childhood vaccine recommendations."

“There is a strong tradition of public factories for vaccines in the United States. For example, in 1894, Massachusetts created a public drug manufacturer and research lab known as MassBiologics, which has produced vaccines for smallpox, tetanus, typhoid, & pertussis, among other biologic products”

How states can resist the potential Trump vaccine shortages

“States can serve as a last line of defense against the Trump administration’s anti-vaccine policy,” writes Joel Dodge.

1 in 4 of the people who are hospitalized are babies. Let that sink in. This is also the population most likely to suffer from SSPE, a universally fatal and devastating consequence of surviving measles. Unforgivable.

Bob Morris, MD, PhD@rdmorris.bsky.social · 6d ago

Meanwhile, measles has put over 400 people in the hospital including 107 infants and toddlers. At 4080, the highest case count in over 30 years. More than the last thirty years combined. And his response is to game the numbers.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

There’s NO WAY anyone on earth thought that suddenly slashing resources for critical child/maternal health services, medicines, & control of TB, HIV, & malaria would cause zero sickness or death in low-income nations No sentient being could genuinely believe that Mass death/eugenics was the point👇

Now seems like a good time to say that the more I look at what doge did with USAID the more it looks like a straightforward eugenics project and Elon’s protests that he didnt know anyone might die seem doubly evil

I graduated med school in 2014. I was taught-and saw-how hard melanoma was to treat, like a death sentence Since then, new treatments have made it possible for people w/ the most advanced melanoma, like Jimmy Carter, to live to 100! We are killing ourselves by letting them destroy American science

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com · 4w ago

A cancer vaccine succeeded in a clinical trial in preventing the recurrence of melanoma, a result experts say is a breakthrough for mRNA-based treatments. Trials for lung cancer, pancreatic cancer and other diseases' vaccines are also underway.

This is why antivaxx ideology is not about "freedom." It's about not harming others. Basic vaccinations SHOULD BE just part of living in society. Like paying taxes or not driving impaired/distracted. If these babies are infected (by the most infectious virus), it'd be shocking to have 0 deaths.

There are few worse places for a measles exposure. A pediatric bone marrow transplant ward perhaps. Either is a disaster if the suspect case turns out to have measles and be in the infectious window 😳😳😳

Cassidy cast the deciding vote to confirm RFK Jr, and he did so knowing the full history of RFK Jr’s decades of extreme anti-vaccine activism These 2 men—Cassidy and RFK Jr—have sealed their “terrible legacy” together. It’s all they will be remembered for: suffering, sickness, pain, & death.

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana) on Wednesday said the nation’s worst measles outbreak in the United States in 35 years is “going to be a terrible legacy for this administration,” citing recent deaths in Pennsylvania.
