Hot dawg, I've wanted to play Terranigma ever since I saw an Extra Credits video about it in, like, 2012!
Oh no, I've been playing Resident Evil 2 Remake, and there *definitely* isn't enough ammo to last even a day in that place, and that's before we start factoring in Mr. X. I'm toast.
You're offered $250,000,000 but to claim it you must enter the last video game you've played and stay there for a full year. How are y'all faring in this deal?
This is a great story to start your Friday with.
Many years ago, when I first started writing for The Dark Side (Britain's oldest horror mag) we had a bit of a friendly pub quiz rivalry with Empire magazine for a while. We kept losing though. Until one week we discovered a secret weapon. /1
Tired: taking a 20-minute train from Bath to Bradford-on-Avon. Wired: taking *5 hours* to walk from Bath to Bradford-on-Avon along the very chill Kennet & Avon canal path, plus two aqueducts (...then taking the train home!).
Aww yeah, The Incident at Galley House is full of the good stuff - and its code-breaking mystery machine is scratching my brain in exactly the same way Inkle's TR-49 did six-odd months ago. Delicious.
News that Spider-Man has made almost a billion dollars in one weekend is a good reason to crack out this excellent Tom Hollander story: youtu.be/z_c4JHOIoSc?...

Did the National Trust's 6-mile Bath Skyline walk today and hot damn, I love this city so dang much.
SFB Games have done it again with The Mermaid Mask. A brilliant follow up to Tangle Tower, with an even more ingenious mystery at its core. It's the kind of game where you actively want to talk to everyone about every item just to savour all the great writing, animation & voice performances. Superb!
Discovered something strange this week: YouTube will auto-dub some foreign language video, but loses its mind if that clip also contains English language. See what happens to Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side in this Italian show: youtu.be/DCisbHHkTzg?...

Wow, didn't expect the big twist of A Plague Tale: Requiem to be that it's all just one giant setup for Pentiment... Who knew!?
For lunch today, I'm making the salad from Rhythm Heaven Groove. It has 413 tomatoes, just how you like it.
From now on all disagreements must be settled in the ten second cake grabbing game in Rhythm Heaven Groove.
Ithaca is so close to its funding goal, but there are only a few days left for this all or nothing project. If @thepixelhunt.bsky.social's video below resonates with you, please consider backing it.
Today on the road to Ithaca, a video that is a little bit special.
MVP of The Bear S5 has to be Christian Lundberg's score - some mega heavy lifting going on in this season's music!
Cranking up a new multiplayer game of Solium Infernum always prompts the same question: how the heck do I play Solium Infernum?
Rolled credits on Mina The Hollower today, and big shout out to the load-bearing pillar that is the 'no pit damage' modifier.
It's weeks like this where insane temperatures have been declared "a risk to life for even the healthy population" of the UK that make the funding and development of games like @thepixelhunt.bsky.social's Ithaca all the more urgent.
I guess all the people living in Europe right now could relate with Penelope at least a little. www.kickstarter.com/projects/ith...

This is a *preposterously* good deal
Okay, so this is massive and we're terrified. Partnering with @play.breakthrought1d.org in the fight against diabetes, the ENTIRE inkle catalogue is on Humble Bundle right now for $20 -- including TR-49, all four novels, both Overboard! games, 80 Days, all four parts of Sorcery! ... everything.
Baffling to me that people think Nintendo are playing it too safe, as if Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, Tomodachi Life, Yoshi And The Mysterious Book aren't all deeply strange games or unexpected sequels. Even Pokopia takes a beloved series into an entirely new genre. The Switch 2 is only a year old.
Xbox: spend 30 days and 1,000 man hours to throw out the PS5 version of Gears and win back fans. Nintendo: watch one of our best creative minds lose a thumb wrestle live in front of 1 million fans.
Holy heck, that Final Fantasy Resonance pixel art! Gorgeous.
Aww, heck yeah. As per @jumpovertheage.com's newsletter, this sounds absolutely rad: "Grow into and through its inhabitants, uncover and change their stories, and witness the terminal season of the signet city."
