Got my copy of Orion by @ngoziu.com It. is. SO. GOOD. The story is creative, the art is wonderful, and most of all it's written with love for the characters. 100% created by a true Fourth World fan. And so enjoyable that I read the whole thing straight through last night, couldn't put it down!!!

Truly a stunning comic all around. This is the only non-Kirby work that I consider essential reading for the New Gods.

Unknown to Orion, Darkseid and Desaad have returned to Earth to once again play their sick, twisted games. This time they have invaded a small town in Nebraska.
Interesting stylistic choice to make his eyes red. They've been pupil-less from the early days (depending on how you interpret the art) and afaik only red once in JLA/Avengers. But this take may be the only full-eye red. I love the coloring and dark inks of the chair too!

Seems to pretty obviously be a prototype for Metron’s Moebius Chair from Kirby’s New Gods book a decade+ later. Here’s it’s more of a humorous take on the concept, but it’s definitely there nevertheless.

I think Metron should temporarily join the JSA. Like just for shits and giggles. He already went on an adventure with them to take down Extant that one time, and it'd be interesting to see more interactions.
The obvious answer is Mike Grell's Cosmic Boy magnetic bustier so I'll go with my second choice: Orion of the New Gods superhero redesign by Mike Vosburg. It was what he wore when I started reading comics and I still like it, but I completely agree that Kirby's original look is far superior.
