Last night I watched an interview of clavicular and, in between his rationalizations of his misogyny, I realized: He’s treating his body like a role playing game. Grind, build your stats, “max out” your level, and then and only then can you beat the boss/enter real life. This is fear of failure

Hear me out. So capitalism always needed an ideology to provide cover for its depredations. It used to be this meritocracy/formal equality/up-by-your-bootstraps individualism. No one buys it anymore. Enter Curtis yarvin and his stories about the legitimacy of business daddy hierarchy.

Every time there’s a bubble and we all get anxious about a crash, I am reminded of how interdependent we all are, notwithstanding the “up by your bootstraps” individualism & entrepreneurialism of neoliberal ideology. It’s almost as if… it’s a lie

One thing I appreciate about a movie from a Batman director is that the “we only need to wait for the Big Guy to save us” narrative is that the Big Guy didn’t really save anyone and started the problem to begin with.
