Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow for the kick off! Tomorrow is workshops during the afternoon then the conference welcome at 17:30 followed by a drinks and canapés reception. If you can keep track of all the letters, the conference hashtag is #APCVEPC2026

IT'S CONFERENCE WEEK! 🎉 Welcome to Auckland, NZ for APCV/EPC2026. Whether you're giving a talk, presenting a poster, or simply taking it all in, we're glad to have you here. Tag us with: #APCVEPC26

So cool, thanks for taking your time to make something hopefully lots of people find helpful! Us organisers discussed making an app but decided it was one time commitment too far. Lovely that the community has done it anyway 😊

I adapted a scheduler app that was shared at VSS for this conference: apcvepc2026.netlify.app. Hope others find it useful in organising their time. (And thank you to Miyoung Kwon who created the app originally).

if you're interested in this (jobs at different levels), & u'll be at OHBM (Bourdeux), CCN (NYU), APCV/EPC (Auckland), or KSBNS (Daejeon), pls let us know. some of us will also be at those meetings (i myself at the latter 2), & we can meet & chat about it there

who wants to come work with us, on whether AIs can introspect? e.g. something similar to this - transformer-circuits.pub/2025/introsp... - but maybe especially in the perceptual domain? we just got some new funds to collaborate with our friends at Yale (on foundational models for fMRI data), & ...

I'm proud to say we are releasing LAION-fMRI, a densely sampled 7T fMRI dataset of natural images, with very broad stimulus sampling for testing countless hypotheses and for deeply exploring brain representations. The dataset is now available at laion-fmri.hebartlab.com What does LAION-fMRI offer? 🧵

LAION-fMRI - a 7T fMRI dataset of human vision

LAION-fMRI (LfMRI / LAION MRI dataset): 5 subjects, 25,052 launch-release natural images, 165 acquired 7T fMRI sessions with single-trial GLMsingle betas, retinotopy, localizers, and diffusion.

We have over 100 abstracts submitted already and are expecting a big spike in these last couple of weeks! EPC/APCV are very rarely in NZ (last was 15yrs ago). If you're kiwi, this is a great opportunity for a nearby international conference. If you're not, this is your chance to see beautiful NZ :)

⚠️ Reminder: 2 weeks left until the abstract submission deadline for APCV & EPC 2026. Abstracts are due on 30 April 2026. Please also note that all presenters—including speakers and discussants in symposia—must register for the conference by the early-bird deadline on 15 May 2026.

Good thread on an interesting project - nice to see more of these nuanced benchmarks of human-model visual alignment.

Excited to share our new preprint: "Do Machines Fail Like Humans? A Human-Centered Out-of-Distribution Spectrum for Mapping Error Alignment" led by @binxia.bsky.social w @ken-lxl.bsky.social & co-senior author Luke Dickens (UCL) 🤖🧵👇 Link: arxiv.org/abs/2603.07462 🧠📈#PsychSciSky #compneuro #mlsky /1

Does anyone know if the SVRHM (Shared Visual Representations in Humans and Machines) satellite will be coming to Sydney with NeurIPS this December? I can't find any info about it so I'm assuming not, but that would be a great shame!

My first foray into explicitly trying to bridge Marr’s levels, with @bealebrains.bsky.social. Inspired by Hahn and Wei’s models (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38360947/), we wondered how the brain could instantiate sensory inference with efficient /decoding/ properties. 1/

Should I take 6 months of sabbatical in 2027, or 12 months of sabbatical in 2029? First time planning sabbatical/RSL, and not sure how to think about the tradeoffs. I'd mostly be using it for grant writing and visiting collaborators.

My friend and collaborator Kamila Jozwik is looking for a postdoc to work on some super interesting projects involving the representation of animacy and other, more subtle, semantic distinctions in the brain, especially during immersive VR/AR experiences. See link on the lab website for details!

I had five wonderful years in Giessen, both scientifically and personally. The vision science research environment at JLU has gone from strength to strength. A really incredible opportunity if you're interested in experimental perception science!
