ICE agent asked why he's taking pictures of a legal observer's car, replies: "Cuz we have a nice little database and now you're considered a domestic terrorist. So have fun with that."

I don't care if you think that AI can do some really nifty things. It's being rammed down our throats by obscenely wealthy men who are also, obviously, both dangerously right-wing and mentally unstable, and no rational society should be allowing that to happen. End of discussion.
Best case: The President of the United States knew about a pedophilia ring and did nothing to stop it. Medium case: He also used his office to protect the perpetrators. Worst case: Because he was one of the perpetrators.
If **Jeffrey Epstein** thinks you're a evil and demented sociopath, the odds are overwhelming that you are, in fact, an evil and demented sociopath.
Project 2025 is bad for Veterans. Privatizing TRICARE will leave millions without access. Repost if you feel that our nation's bravest deserve better. #VeteransDay
Donโt hold me to this, but I think the earlier Thule/Dorset people were around 1000 CE, while the Inuit were later. Iโd have to look it up. Both migrated east across northern Canada once the ice sheets cleared. However, paleogenetics show a lot of east <โ> west cross flow between these peoples.
yeah my understanding is that the people in the arctic the vikings encountered were basically part of the same population as the rest of native americans. the inuit came in after the vikings died out in greenland. other indigenous ppl perceived inuit as being very different from them!
Has been for awhile (Monte Verde). Why are comments off on this thread?
FYI Clovis first is dead
Depending on where youโre talking about, but the earliest settlers in South America were definitely pre-Clovis and left a genetic signature. I believe that is true in North America also.
did pre-clovis ppl survive or did they get displaced completely?
What about the White Sands footprints? Those are way earlier than 13k years ago.
the current consensus based on genetics/linguistics is that that there were at least three pre-columbian settlements of the americas: one very ancient one ~13K years ago, one about ~5K years ago that brought in the na-dene speakers, and the inuit who spread only around ~1000 years ago
Yeah, there were no indigenous people in Iceland before the Vikings got there. Seems that from what we know now, the Thule and Inuit stopped at Greenland.
well sure but then what's the definition of indigineity in this context then. like the vikings seem uncomplicatedly indigenous to iceland for instnace

I love that weโre all unanimously like โlisten that building is not sacred to me and it has a bloody history and if it came down ethically I probably wouldnโt shed a tear, but watching this man smash a wrecking ball into the side of it from sheer selfish malice has unexpectedly fucked me upโ
Zelensky clearly annoyed with Steve Witkoff, who views the war as some sort of real estate transaction & pushes Kremlin talking points. Recently he pushed Kyiv to accept Putin's demand for the rest of the Donbas because "it was incorporated into [Russia's] constitution." Read Zelensky's comments:
Wow, the season 3 finale of Foundation was really incredible. Interested to see where they go with season 4.
Idea for an amicus brief: We list the powers in a chart let's say Louis XIV claimed for himself, and maybe the courts can just indicate with a checkmark which ones of those Trump doesn't have. Seems more efficient.
Somehow, putting a deranged eugenicist with a brain parasite in charge of our health infrastructure has gone terribly wrong.

The @washingtonpost tracked where Trump's forces are patrolling in Washington. Spoiler alert: They're not where the crime is.
While masked agents were violently attacking a delivery worker this morning, bystanders repeatedly asked to see their badge numbers but they refused. Bystander: You guys are ruining this country, you know that, right? Agent: Liberals already ruined it.
