I don't care if you think that AI can do some really nifty things. It's being rammed down our throats by obscenely wealthy men who are also, obviously, both dangerously right-wing and mentally unstable, and no rational society should be allowing that to happen. End of discussion.

Best case: The President of the United States knew about a pedophilia ring and did nothing to stop it. Medium case: He also used his office to protect the perpetrators. Worst case: Because he was one of the perpetrators.

Donโ€™t hold me to this, but I think the earlier Thule/Dorset people were around 1000 CE, while the Inuit were later. Iโ€™d have to look it up. Both migrated east across northern Canada once the ice sheets cleared. However, paleogenetics show a lot of east <โ€”> west cross flow between these peoples.

yeah my understanding is that the people in the arctic the vikings encountered were basically part of the same population as the rest of native americans. the inuit came in after the vikings died out in greenland. other indigenous ppl perceived inuit as being very different from them!

I love that weโ€™re all unanimously like โ€œlisten that building is not sacred to me and it has a bloody history and if it came down ethically I probably wouldnโ€™t shed a tear, but watching this man smash a wrecking ball into the side of it from sheer selfish malice has unexpectedly fucked me upโ€
