It only took a year, but I finally went through all my clothes. Three bags to donate. I find it odd that I didn't wear a single one of my wool jumpers last winter in Canada. Probably because I never went anywhere and the heating here is better than in Scotland.

I love watching Kaz's long takes on YouTube. So well researched. And I agree with them, Eggers is right. Never was a director more obsessed with historical accuracy.

I have been listening to my friend Shannon plan an event for evacuees from the Ontario wildfires. She's running it later this week for 3 days and over 900 people are coming. She's arranged events, drumming, beading, sports, childcare, food, donations. I am in awe.

When I'm looking for artists to hire for comics work, I need to see sequentials, but so few artists post their pages. I know it doesn't get the engagement on socials, but having a link to a portfolio site with pages is so useful (to me).

I recently took the ELVTR Book Editing course with Tom Hoeler (Editorial Director at Random House Worlds) and I may have learned more about editing in those 8 weeks than I have in the last several years combined. It's already improved my work so much. I love learning. It's cool.

I have not cut the lawn in my backyard all summer. There are baby bunnies back there. And fireflies at night. And my cats sit and watch them in the dark. We all do.

Did you hear the news? The kids are calling tramp stamps cake toppers now. I love it so much.

This feels like required reading for anyone working in publishing right now.

You can be shit at drawing and still make great comics, it really doesn't matter. You CANNOT be shit at storytelling. Even if you're an amazing artist, your comics will still suck.

Telling the story clearly* is more important than anything else in drawing comics. *Unless the story calls for confusion on the part of the reader, of course.
