Back when I had Twitter I used to offer free headshots for low-income authors, not sure I have much reach here but the offer is still there. London or Birmingham (although I’m in Glasgow and Edinburgh at the end of Aug and can fit in a session. Will have lights so can be indoors).
Painting created c.1967, by Mary Lorraine, in the art therapy studio at Netherne Hospital, where she was compelled to live. Several of her surviving works depict dancers & we have reason to believe she, herself, was a trained ballet dancer. This & other biographical details are awaiting confirmation
Satyr created by Mary Lorraine, c.1967, in the art therapy studio at Netherne Hospital, where she was compelled to live. One of several surviving works her paintings often depict scenes of ballet, art making & society occasions & it seems, pre-hospitalisation, she may have been a professional dancer
A tour group over at Ymerbukta have stumbled across a mummified polar bear while out in their kayaks. Current working theory is that it has melted out of the glacier. Fascinating potential for scientific discovery or horrifying portent of the end of days, TBD.

Exactly the afternoon pick-me-up we needed during our afternoon BM. Whoever's been posting these in the Roybal bathroom stalls, we see you. 🖖💚 CDC fam: What's the best act of rebellion (or workplace joy) you've seen around the office lately?
Greatest one line in a song even. Not verse, chorus, bridge. Just one line... "You said I was cheap; you were the sale of the century."

1) I have the same dress as the one on the right. (Absolute bargain in the end of summer sale last year.) Top marks also for using a black money belt as the "scarf". 2) I hope the wee lass in front is wearing some kind of reversible/layered dress so she can do the studio version in white as well.

NOT NOW, GIANT, SPIDERY CRACK IN THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF THE TOILET BOWL! (We live in a flat with one bathroom with one loo in it. And we are coming up to that joyous time of the year when it is almost impossible to find alternative short-term accommodation here. Again.)
Watched Children of the Blitz (Coventry, Hull, Cardiff, Clydeside, Belfast, as well as London). Powerful, with some people speaking about their experiences for the first time, reflecting on silence embedding trauma, full of compassion, and horror at the resurgent ideology that caused that trauma.

Me: *orders more pairs of linen trousers* Me: *ponders* Me: *orders more multiple trouser hangers* Given the intensification of summer, my summer fashion future is linen trousers, and one pair of linen + two pairs of cotton trousers are no longer enough, not when I sweat through a pair a day.
