Didn't get any more sleep but went for a walk, picked a handful of almonds, some grapes and a fig and ate them. Thank fuck 11am just cancelled so I can nap then.

Tiny light, keep on shining, hold back the dark. Lives on a hill in Sicily with an embarrassing number of cats. Will grumble and post pictures of cats, Sicily and food. Renovating an old house, which means I say FFS a lot. Roof appreciator.
28 degrees with 70% humidity (so feels 30+) at gone 3am. I need sleep and autumn. Usually past ferragosto it slowly starts to cool. But it will still be 30+ until mid September and that's 6 weeks away and I am so tired and ill and bored of this heat.
I've finally uploaded 24 new downloadable phone backgrounds onto my site! 17 are of my aerial embroidery, the others are non-aerial landscapes :) Each is £2.50 and is a small way to support my art outside of purchasing originals or prints 🌱 victoriaroserichards.co.uk/collection/a... #smallbusiness
Signore Leonardo (old owner who I also see) "Its very isolated, are you sure?" YES BRING ON ISOLATION. Nearly 1 year on I am on chatting terms with nearly 50 people who have fields/houses/go hiking/ride horses on the hill. And end of October / start of November everyone arrives for olive picking.
I bought this house because I am an anti-social introvert but some days it is like piccadilly circus. Since 5.30 when I finished work there's been the water delivery couple (her eyepatch, him, no teeth) for corner house- the elderly mother, daughter, husband and adult grandchild were here. And above
The elderly brother and sister who have the last but one field on the left just popped in to see how I was doing and bring me some prickly pears, which I have politely declined because after you've cleaned them, getting one million tiny needles in your hand they taste of nothing.
The fig tree is taunting me by producing way more fruit than even I, fig glutton that I am, can eat. I have a really good fig chutney recipe but it is too hot to make it and both freezers are full. Have a field day insects, it's feasting time.
Not saying that I am becoming a caricature of my mad cat lady self but I just scorched my samosas because I was trying to get a decent picture of the kitten boys on the bed.
Well this is promising. Dating site conversation. (Yes, yes, triumph of hope over experience again) Him: I hate capitalism Me: Not as much as I do Him: Shall we compare? Me: Welsh mining village under Thatcher, your move. Him: You win, that's check mate.
Remember what fascism brings: death and destruction.
2nd August 1980, the worst terrorist attack in post-war Italian history is carried out by neo-fascist group NAR. A bomb hidden in a suitcase explodes in the waiting room of Bologna Station, causing the partial collapse of the station structure. 85 people die and 200 are injured [Thread] >> 1
For Dad's birthday Ive just done tech support by landline phone and WhatsApp video at the same time so Mum can point whatsapp at the computer screen. Lessons learnt - my mother does not understand left/right/up/down and Dad's dementia is getting worse :(
Top tip, before going out into the garden in just your pants check if your neighbour is around... He was strimming the bit of field where he parks so I don't think he noticed.
Sent friend screenshot of Smol's tracker, as he's on his way back from way way away from the house. Comment was"You've raised him to be as willful and disobedient as you are." *proud face*
You know I said I'd stop whining about the heat? I lied. I WANT TO GO AND PLAY AND DO THINGS AND IT IS TOO HOT AND HUMID.
Hard not to sing this to the tune "Say Hello , Wave Goodbye"
Sitting on the terrace of the Dôme, drinking Pernods and talking about sanity with enormous hollows under my eyes.
Had to stop the car on the way back home just to marvel at the beauty.
Having to remind myself "it is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society" I shall continue to be a weird cat lady up on the hill.
Finally stopped at the pizzeria nearest the house (down the hill and along the plain 3km) and it's kitsch but lovely. And the bloke has given me a beer on the house while I wait for my diavola.
At an artists' talk for an ongoing "female revolt" exhibition series and an entire room of women has just turned round and shushed a man who came in late and talked loudly. Glorious.
"Nevertheless, the soul that is enslaved to war cries out for deliverance, but deliverance itself appears to it an extreme and tragic aspect, the aspect of destruction" from Simone Weil's essay, "The Iliad, or the poem of force"
They've been building the ballroom for 10 months. The Italians built a similar edifice, the bunker courthouse in Palermo, able to withstand a missile attack, in 6 months in the 1980s. Personally, I hope Trump's ballroom will serve the same purpose: a secure location for a mass trial of traitors.
Trump: "I think the arch is gonna be incredible. I think the protected ballroom and military center that we're building at the White House is gonna be unbelievable. It's very important."
Trying to stop whining about the heat so - One positive thing, I can strip the bed, run the washing machine, get stuff on the line and it will dry in under an hour. Then my favourite sheets can go back on the bed.
