Watching Australian pickers, the haggling is like watching kids play in the toy grocer's shop in nursery . "How much is this old enamel bucket? " "That'll be a 1000 bucks!"

Well one can only hope that rural Tory voters can now have a candidate who reflects their inclusive and fair minded liberal views ....

Drawing created by Danielle Koren, c.1979, in the art therapy studio at Netherne hospital where she was compelled to live. This drawing on scrap paper is very small, found among Edward Adamson’s files of personal correspondence which contain many cards & letters from individuals sent after release
Spectacularly sexist clickbait update about #TDFFemmes no coverage of TDF (either races) for the last month and then a story about female riders stuffing their bras for better aerodynamics #ffs
I wouldn't suggest a book but to change when and how they read . Like all things it takes a little dedication and effort . During the day works for me away from distractions and then persisting with 50 plus pages. Oh and Join a library.
If you met someone who had fallen out of love with reading, and you had one shot at getting them back into it, what book would you give them? For a thing.
Flier through the door from a local pub, advertising an "August Carvery" which is either the name of a reviewer for the New Yorker or Pynchon Character
Interesting choice to dress like that sort of loser who gets his arse kicked in EVERY bar fight in EVERY action Hollywood film.
We've had some sad news, my bro's dog Alan "Shep" Shepard has passed on. He was a lovely old thing & a good companion to me wherever I dog-sat him over the years. Amongst his many achievements was winning a best in show award from Peter Tatchell. Even as an old lad he loved a big stick ! #Bskydogs
A while ago I thought that one of the books in Morpheus's library in Sandman, would be a perpetually scribbling record of all the love letters that were never sent , the stumbled and deleted texts, discarded blackmail noteds and yes all the un-viewed photos . #comics
Not just me then? @newyorker.com
It rained briefly like a glimpse an old love waving from a car
Here is the Tom Tom Club in London, 1982. We were about to play Wembley Arena with Talking Heads. From left, Steve Scales, Laura Weymouth, Alex Weir, Lani Weymouth, Tyrone Downie, Chris Frantz. Front, Tina Weymouth.
Also why does the bleakness of vast swathes of the English coastline cheer me so?
Everything but "ranch" dressing and that's only because it's everything that's wrong in the world and enjoyed by people with terrible terrible taste in food and most other things
There are 12 that I absolutely won't eat. 🤷♀️ What about you? 🤔
Let's bring back our butter markets (this historic site is in Oakham, Rutland)
Met Jimmy after a local Christmas panto. Afterwards he mingled with the audience, had a lovely chat with my fam, posed for a pic and wrote us a Christmas card! Lovely fella. RIP.
Sadly, there will be no ‘more’. We are heartbroken at TPTV to hear that we have lost another dear friend of the channel, Jimmy Cricket. A very lovely and funny man who kept audiences in stiches when he appeared on stage at our festivals. A true comedy legend. Thanks for all the laughs Jimmy.
I don't know if Piers Morgan, Andrew Neil and Justin Webb are the only ones singing your praises you may just have taken a wrong turn in life.
This pimped caddy amazingly isn't the most outrageous thing in this wonderfully barking film
Behind the scenes of Escape from New York (1981) #filmsky
Must be an older copy the hand is higher on recent copies of Rider, to reflect ....oh I don't know what
Well. Finally finished book 4. 900 pages of heaving boobs, bushes and every horrendousness you can imagine. But bloody hell I couldn't stop reading it. Delighted to leave this in the hotel library.
It’s important to research the fundamental historical facts for the period in which you set a story. The research: Siri, when did kenickie release Catsuit City?
@laurenlaverne.bsky.social Tycho Brahe's false nose was silver .
Can Andy Burnham do something about banning Sparky's Magic Piano voice treatments on pop records? Asking for my ears.
Yeah and signing up for all the various channel apps is ball ache already
Freeview switch-off is a terrible idea for many reasons, not least that the signal is much, much more reliable than broadband and isn't subject to DNS attacks.
There's a little long distance irony of The Cranberries' "Linger" being used to flog KFC, as back in the day, it was always the "Linger Fish Finger " song
Only just seen that Vicki Wickham died on Friday. Absolute powerhouse of a woman. Say her name!
Watching #GardenersWorld Monty's dustbin of fennel looks like my front bed which has been overtaken by it. It'll have to find a new home in a container next year #gardens
