All this month I will be enjoying streaming some Amiga games for #AmigAugust! Starting at 2PM EST (1800 GMT) on Thursday Aug 6 with the Pondathon, where I play through all the Amiga James Pond games twitch.tv/kaylagator amigamonth.com/event/aug26/ #stream #livestream #amiga #retrogaming
Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

this shit is awful but one time in my life it ended up being kinda funny. happened when i was staying in a fancy hotel downtown (boss paid for it) and got stuck with all the rich people, gamblers and businessmen out on the main street sidewalk in their pajamas moaning
awake... holy hell dude. when your fire alarm goes off at 4 in the morning that shit is really really disruptive
that's not a baby. that's clearly Verne Troyer (rip) hired for his expertise in the role of Stunt Baby in Baby's Day Out (1994)
Where do you think this baby is now?

Please respect disabled streamers and creators. They are working twice as hard to give you content because their bodies or minds fight them the entire time. They have to take breaks more frequently and are often exhausted. Don't take it as an insult when they can't be there 24/7.
It can be really hard being a disabled streamer because sometimes we go through times where our health gets worse. And we're not as present. And a lot of people take that as a slight against them. Because we're not able to be in their streams or support them as much.
It seems absurd in modern times to think a web browser could even run with only 2MB ram anymore, many modern web pages download significantly more than 2MB worth of Javascript just to function
Looking for what the reaction to it was at the time, I found an overview in GamePro that highlights one of the main issues with it: it couldn't display web pages with frames, java elements, or sound files embedded in them. Would likely factor into the overall poor sales for the Net Link.

Now is a good reminder that machine learning is a rebranding of statistical learning. Reinforcement learning is something I first came across in control theory. Many ML formulations are from information theory, a much more theoretically grounded discipline that's been around for decades.
There's a reason why "these are just statistical predictions" hasn't caught on in the discourse, and it's not the tech press. It's that people see them reading and writing and reasoning and scheming and they realize that the stochastic-parrots framing is outdated and inadequate to the moment
if Myst was so popular how come it never had a parody featuring John Goodman called Pyst
i've basically had a permanent smile on my face for the last hour because every 5 minutes i get a notification for the endless battle a guy is having in my mentions defending the position that myst was never popular because he had a super nintendo. i love bluesky. i am a bluesky true believer

I have this idea to jam out a game where the jump motion is absurdly jank and makes no sense. Somehow this has become my favorite genre of platformer. Reject Newtonian physics
This game is probably the pinnacle of 80s Namco jank. The jump physics are absolutely bonkers. It's awesome
