In response to the unprecedented number of game developers laid off this year, we have created a bundle on itch to benefit a Game Industry Hardship Fund, managed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. More than 100 games for 10+ bucks! Please share widely and donate generously! itch.io/b/3802/game-...

That’s not just a good title slide for a presentation, this absolute legend just delivered an entire presentation rhymed exactly like a Dr Seuss book. Anyone know any illustrators who can draw in the Seuss style? This deserves to be illustrated and printed. Well done, Ethan!
Time For the talk!!
Thank you Phil, not only for a great talk but for the added reassurance that prioritization of your time and getting things “good enough” is ok! Perfection can be the enemy of progress, and we all have a lot of things to balance! Also that Pokémon card is top notch 🏆
I'm up next!
I'm on a mission to find the tape and film adjacent people and ask them if they know more film and tape adjacent people
partner slash social crutch is not here and i have bluesky mutuals but no one i *actually* know here so pray for me
In Rochester this week for the #SaveTheGames conference, and figured we’d spend today wandering through the Strong Museum of Play. I knew this place was going to be cool, but it surpassed even my wildest hopes! The Strong is seriously awesome, and I can’t wait to come back with a kid one day!
I still remember little 6 year old me gazing up at the Mario 64 kiosk at Toys R Us, utterly in AWE of the fact that I was moving Mario in 3D. It was mind-blowing.
Ever wonder what it was like to experience a 3D game for the first time? We dug into our E3 tapes and found footage of the US press getting their first hands-on with Super Mario 64 at E3 1996
Damn that’s cool what happened to the guy who was running their old program www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/...

Come for the E3 collections, stay for the Conker's Quest footage 🌰🐿️ youtu.be/9VeLhqbXNf4?...
Revisit E3 Like You've Never Seen it Before

New in our digital archive: We're taking you back to E3 like you've never experienced it. Explore thousands of pages of ephemera and nearly 24 hours of video from the history of the Electronic Entertainment Expo Read more: gamehistory.org/e3-history/
This is so cool. If I had infinite money I would bankroll a project to recreate E3 in a virtual interactive environment. Getting to browse the floor recreated from floor plans, see booths reconstructed from photos and videos, and jump to photo angles just like this!

Shadax if the Solstice devs had more courage (and fewer palette restrictions?) The dude leveled STR and INT, why hide it? 😂
Solstice is one of my earliest video game memories, and has an unrivalled expectation/reality disparity between the box art and the character sprite
Happy 26th birthday to Solstice, the isometric puzzle platformer developed for the NES by Software Creations! How often do you get to see behind the scenes footage from the making of an NES game? More often today, thanks to the Video8 tape included in the Solstice Player's Pak!
Unquestionably one of the coolest items in the Hit Save archive. I can't think of many other companies who were filming and distributing this stuff in the 80s/90s, and while it feels like someone's home movie and was distributed on Video8 of all formats, it's still awesome to see!

There is my life before Bastion and after Bastion, which made its debut on Xbox Live Arcade 20 July 2011. Without it, Supergiant Games doesn't exist. I recorded the game's 3000ish lines of VO here in Darren Korb's bedroom over the course of about 14 months. Happy 15 to our scrappy little video game.
Major mid-2000s energy in these developer intros... camera guy didn't need to go that hard, but did anyway. 🫡
The 2026 World Cup Finals are upon us, and we've got an extra special release to commemorate the event: The Making of Football Manager 2005, a preorder bonus disc containing early game previews and an interview with Sports Interactive's @milessi.bsky.social that were lost to time...until today!
Making my first contributions to the new redump.info site something special with some undumped marketing discs from GameStop and SCEA! Let’s preserve these and get them closer to the @hitsave.org archive! www.twitch.tv/kazoodac
People don't want masked thugs terrorizing their neighbors. They don't want warehouses being turned into detention centers. They don't want billions of taxpayer dollars spent on a rogue police state. They want healthcare. They want affordable homes. They want their basic needs met.
Would the average person be excited to see a ~23 year old proprietary video codec for the Nintendo GameCube natively transcoded for what seems to be the first time? Maybe not. But me? I am BEYOND PUMPED. 🤩
Looks like I got it! Here's the Neversoft logo from Tony Hawk's Underground 😄 I'll write up how I did it and share it in a bit. Going to see if I can polish the approach a bit to make it a bit more user-friendly

I don't care much about sports, but I DO love seeing lost media found, regardless of what type! Also...this Psygnosis logo animation totally reminds me of the Doctor Who intro. Just slap the theme song in there and you're there. 🤣
The World Cup is heating up, and we've got another football-related addition to our archive to debut: the making of Adidas Power Soccer by Psygnosis! There's a short French version available on YouTube, but this longer German version doesn't appear to exist anywhere else online! Here's a preview:
imagine if they fired every band member every time an album came out
10 years ago today Niantic released Pokémon GO, and for a short period of time the world knew peace and harmony. #ButEverythingChangedWhenTheFireNationAttacked
This movie had some of the coolest visual effects of the 90s. And the game was certainly...a game of the 90s as well.
Happy 4th of July to all who celebrate! We've got a special treat for you: A trailer for the Independence Day video game!
The bad news is that we’re currently in the midst of the longest power outage I’ve had since I moved to Delaware in 2015…and during the hottest week of the year no less. But hey, the good news is I finally have an excuse to put my gadgets to work keeping the fridge and freezer running!

New in the @hitsave.org archive today: a Japanese Square Enix brochure from 2005! I've never been a big JRPG guy, but this was a hell of a lineup. archive.hitsave.org/ark:/78322/2... Yes, I did irresponsibly procrastinate my actual work by turning this into a 3D animation...why do you ask? 😅
