So much of Trumpism is rooted in the idea that any sacrifice, no matter how small, for the greater good is for suckers. It's a vision of society based on satisfying whatever impulse you have and damn the consequences. You see evidence of this everywhere from masking to climate change.

I'll summarize this: Mamdani asked NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees. A wave criticism hit online. A MSNBC broadcast pointed out the US Department of Energy recommends that 78 degree figure. Immediately after, the US Department of Energy deleted 6,000 web pages related to energy saving.

Rachel Van Nostrand and I wrote a piece for The Conversation U.S. (with help from two excellent University of Arizona students, Malia Hirasa and Sydney Horton.) We detail how US ICE detention facilities qualify as a system of concentration camps.

Scholars have defined the elements of what qualifies as a concentration camp system. Based on those, ICE detention facilities meet the definition of concentration camps.

Yes, this is evil and generally illiterate. But they're also a tech company named after a communications device that becomes corrupted and only provides information from the perspective of someone called the "dark lord" and "the deceiver." So, yeah, this is about what I'd expect. (1/4)

Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed. We must get rid of Palantir altogether. twitter-thread.com/t/2045574398...
