This is exactly it -- if you make a kid use generative "A.i." or an LLM, you're telling them they're not good enough. That their own minds and ideas and experiences and abilities are not enough. That's a terrible, thoughtless, cruel thing to do. Shame on Kaepernick and everyone involved in Lumi.

my daughter (11) spends hours every week drawing comics. her art (and storytelling) has improved exponentially in the last year! I can't imagine how harmful it will be to tell kids their art isn't good enough, they need to use a theft-engine instead. we'd lose a whole generation of artists!

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

An elderly dog adopted from the NY rescue I volunteer for has ended up in the Miami-Dade shelter. We are trying to reunite her with her original adopter who is now in Tulsa, OK (1400 miles away)—can anyone help foster her in the Miami area while we arrange transport? And can anyone help drive?
