I gotta say it's getting pretty hard to keep going 'it is what it is' over big gaming companies having infinite cash to torch on everything except anything you might like

it's cool as hell that "company founded by an epstein list guy eventually purchased a company run by a different epstein list guy and it destroyed 90% of the games industry" is just an objectively true statement

Saw this magazine at the library when I was six years old and something instantly changed in my brain chemistry. Ended up buying Tales of Symphonia and it shaped my taste for games going forward. It made me realize how magical and transformative gaming experiences can really be.

What's your "origin" video game? Most gamers have a lot of favorite games, sure, but there's always one that basically 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 you. I'm talking about the game that flipped that little switch in your brain and made into a life-long gamer. So, which game is 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨?

People really underestimate just how important it was that PlayStation emerged out of Sony *Music*. A publishing label, not a hardware division, a conscious political decision by Norio Ohga. A diverse portfolio in music was a safe one, and so it was with their third-party outreach in games, too.

Perhaps the biggest tragedy with the current state of both PlayStation and Xbox on a cultural level once you get past the bloodbaths—and you shouldn't, to be clear—is just the sheer disinterest they share in maintaining any sense of a cohesive, healthy ecosystem, both internally and externally.

facebook and microsoft are the two big ones that obviously should be split up my any actually functioning US Government but Sysco should be hammered into oblivion too

becoming more and more convinced hostility towards Persona is just people getting mad they're old because it becomes increasingly desperate as time goes on

Coca-Cola, the most popular single product in the history of the entire world, a literal cultural touchstone, starts to slide off when they cut their advertising budget, but these chucklefucks think they can get booted from retail and not eat shit, embarrassing

I'm getting increasingly annoyed at people parroting the '90% of sales are digital' line, cuz while it's true if you count digital only games, if you count games with physical versions it's only 50-60%. Which is why every one of Sony's publishing partners are screaming at them behind the scenes

a lot of people don't realize that a lot of those digital sales are "catalog units" (games sold before the current fiscal quarter/year) a few headlines pointed to capcom mentioning they sell over 90% of units digitally, but they didn't read the IR report itself that mentions >80% catalog units

I never even heard of the 'playstation blackout' despite following this shit pretty closely so it sounds less like people Couldn't Resist The Allure Of Sony and more like nobody knew they were even suggested to do such a thing anyway, the easiest way to punish sony is to just cancel PS+

Me nowadays after hearing a lot of forgettable game OSTs, longing for a Motoi Sakuraba track after dismissing him in the 00s.

I think we've reached the point where AAA games have so little faith in the player that they can't even make the player feel cool anymore. There's a difference between taking you hunting and guiding a buck into their view vs. taking you on a canned hunt where they shove a domesticated deer out.

the early switch directs had the 'fucking come on bro' 3DS block and now the switch 2 directs have a 'fucking come on bro' 30-ports-of-ancient-Ubisoft-Games block
