For the first time in all of my 18 years living out of my parents' house, I will have a sibling live within 15 minutes of my house (!!!).
My brother came to the sibling wedding this last weekend with a full mullet and i've never been more proud of how committed he was to the bit. His whole outfit was the mullet theme: pearl snap western shirt, almost bolo tie, just chef's kiss.

After a weirdly hostile meeting (weird because I thought that was like...unprofessional and didn't happen these days), my students made my day with their weather observation assignment on yesterday's landspout and lightning. They're finally seeing all the things we talk about in class.
Today I share my 5-year PhD Defense-aversary with my child's 1st birthday. She did try to steal my thunder, but there's enough lightning puns to go around.
I'm feeling especially nostalgic this time of year - one year ago we were driving to the eclipse and was about to eject our 3rd family member.
While I can't shop for a house based solely on holes in our slow antenna network, I can and did ask for upgraded grounding in the repair amendment. I'd like to think our realtor passed on the fact that I work in lightning physics, but in reality the seller likely wanted to give a quick yes.
