At this point theres no reason for storefronts like Steam or Itch not to just ban ai slop. Its drowning your storefront, driving down engagement, not making any money, and increasing hosting costs. Wholesale ban would improve everything with absolutely no downsides

3 months later, I have reviewed 17 additional video game publishing agreements. 16 had explicit no Gen-AI clauses, and 1 didn't mention it. All had standard IP reps & warranties which would make Gen-AI use an arguable breach regardless. But Tim Sweeney still wants you to think everyone is using it
Haley MacLean@haleyfax.bsky.social · 3mo agoWhat if I told you that all of the Publishing Agreements I have reviewed in the last 6 months (several dozen) included a no gen AI provision, wherein the use of gen AI in development is a material breach, but companies like Epic and EA are still trying to convince us the industry is cool with it
One thing that was wild about transitioning from Android to iOS was going from "all the first-party utilities suck so I'd better switch to better third-party replacements" to "you either can't switch to third-party replacements or the experience sucks so badly that you wouldn't want to"
