I’ve seen some people making comments about not caring about the Kennedy Center, or even wanting it gone, and if you’re not local, maybe sit this one out. It may be an abstraction to you, but to me it’s where I want to take my kids someday to see the symphony, the ballet, touring shows, etc

I tried to get my phone battery replaced at best buy yesterday and they broke my phone. They said they'd ordered a new one for me but there's no record of it and no one can give me a timeline, my FIL is in surgery and I would really love to have a working phone!

This afternoon, I was thrilled to watch the Governor sign my HB93 to keep guns out of the hands of convicted domestic abusers. This bill, and the others signed today, will save lives. Thank you to all of the advocates whose work brought us here today.

Would the Gov have really preferred that the GA waste 30 minutes talking about why her sub was bad, then vote it down, rather than just passing it by? Because she sent a substitute--it was always going to be the GA either taking it or leaving it. Can't vote on specific amendments when there are none

I asked the governor about this. Her response: “I wrote amendments. They are welcome to take up my amendments. The thing about it is like, there was a bill I would have signed, and they passed by all my amendments. That is fully their prerogative. But it is incorrect to say, ‘My goodness, she said she supported this. Now she won’t sign a bill.’ No, I won’t sign that bill, and you won’t even consider my amendments. That creates a space where now we have to potentially go back to the discussion table — which is fine, right, and that’s the reality of it. There is a bill I would have signed. They didn’t want that, but I’m not going to sign just any bill because they don’t want to have a conversation about amendments, and I think that is the tension. And it is wholly the legislature’s prerogative to reject, to accept or even to pass by my amendments. But it was also wholly the prerogative of the governor to say these amendments are so consequential and important to me … Maybe it’s a different story if they had taken up the amendments,” and they had gotten up and down votes. “People agree with me, they don’t disagree with me. That’s a different discussion, right?”

Today, I attended the Board of Housing and Community Development’s 9-hour-long meeting to consider proposals to change the building code. I’m excited to share that my proposal to require baby diaper changing stations in new buildings open to the public has been adopted! Look at all the proposals!
