"She should have come forward sooner" No dog, you (royal) should understand the reasons why more abuse survivors don't come forward *at all* about their abusers, me included. There's so much more at stake for us including our fucking sanity and safety in that whole mess. Fuck y'all mean "sooner?"

“She should have come forward sooner.” You should have dropped the abusive mercenary Nazi sooner so she didn’t have to go through the hell of coming forward publicly about his assault on her.

Mamdani’s success and DSA’s are now linked. To counter the oligarchs, we must empower members to push back on these cuts & sweeps. This coordination requires open communication & deep democracy in NYC-DSA, building a movement that doesn’t just manage the state, but holds our leaders accountable.

This "duty" to govern leads to the restart of homeless sweeps. Even with a 7-day warning, sweeps kill and displace. As Pannekoek says, the role of public official eventually forces the use of police against the vulnerable to maintain "order" for the capitalist class. 3/4

As an executive, Mayor Mamdani is forced to govern, making the tension Pannekoek warns of especially acute. To satisfy the capitalist class and media, Mamdani has proposed NYPL cuts—reneging on campaign promises. Executives often sacrifice workers to maintain state stability. 2/4

In "The Workers' Way to Freedom," Pannekoek warns that socialists in power often become "delegates of the capitalist class." When we hold office under capitalism, the pressure to manage the status quo, rather than transform it, is immense. 🧵 1/4

Also in this way a majority did not come soon enough. So to attain
some of its aims the Socialist Party had to make alliances, alliances with other parties. Sometimes in parliament, sometimes already at the polls, sometimes after the polls. This was called then “constructive policy,” which means: reduction of the workers’ demands to that minimum that even the capitalist class cannot seriously object to.
Now Socialists get government posts; they become town mayors,
aldermen, even ministers. Not as independent delegates of the working
class, but by the consent of their allies, delegates of the capitalist class. This is called “conquest of power step by step,” or “not being afraid of taking responsibilities.”
What are these responsibilities? As aldermen or ministers, they have
to manage the general affairs of state or town under capitalism. Of course they cannot take socialist measures. They have to conduct affairs for capitalism. They certainly try to get some reforms for the workers. As far as capitalism allows it. But most things they have to see to are interests of capitalist society.
So Social Democrats grow into the role of capitalist politicians.
Surely they are different from the hardboiled brutal type of capitalist
politicians, who uphold the authority of the ruling class by brute force.
They have more humanity, they introduce reforms, they try to smooth
down the class antagonism and to render capitalism more endurable.
They think themselves Socialist politicians, taking the first steps in transforming capitalism into socialism. But when fierce struggles arise, strikes
or hunger revolts, they have, as public officials, the duty to send police or
militia against the revolting workers. A Socialist mayor who assists the
strikers from public funds, and sends the police against the Pinkertons,
is a white raven and would be removed by a higher authority very soon.
